21. Metamodel based multi-objective optimization
Abstract : As a result of the increase in accessibility of computational resources and the increase in the power of the computers during the last two decades, designers are able to create computer models to simulate the behavior of a complex products. To address global competitiveness, companies are forced to optimize their designs and products. READ MORE

22. Ga-actions on Complex Affine Threefolds
Abstract : This thesis consists of two papers and a summary. The papers both deal with affine algebraic complex varieties, and in particular such varieties in dimension three that have a non-trivial action of one of the one-dimensional algebraic groups Ga := (C, +) and Gm := (C*, ·). READ MORE

23. Nurturing Innovations : idea development in R&D projects
Abstract : This thesis aims to encourage the realization of innovations through supporting individuals involved in idea development activities, within or related to R&D projects. This is of interest because R&D projects have become fundamental units for achieving innovation, particularly in large companies, and innovations require the implementation of creative ideas. 24. Spectroscopic studies of InGaAs/GaAs/A1GaAs quantum dots and wires
Abstract : It is demonstrated that the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of single selfassembled lnAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) are very sensitive to excitation energy and crystal temperature, which is explained in terms of modulation of the effective diffusivity of the photogenerated carriers affecting the capture probability into theQD. This effect results in a population of the QD with excess electrons, and can be used as a simple tool to create and study charged exciton complexes. READ MORE

25. Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Modeling at the Cell Scale - Focusing on Species, Heat, Charge and Momentum Transport as well as the Reaction Kinetics and Effects
Abstract : Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that directly transform chemical energy into electricity. They are promising for future energy systems, since they are energy efficient, able to use renewable fuels and, when hydrogen is used as fuel, there are no direct emissions of greenhouse gases.
