  1. 1. Fibroblast growth factor-8 regulation of breast cancer cell growth

    Author : Emeli Nilsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Expression of fibroblast growth factor-8 (FGF-8) is increased in a large number of breast cancers. In in vitro and in vivo breast cancer models FGF-8 promotes growth, invasion and angiogenesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hypospadias : analysis of a complex genetic disorder

    Author : Ana Maria Beleza Meireles; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: Hypospadias is a common inborn error of the male urethra that involves an abnormally placed urethral opening. Its complex etiology is largely elusive to date. Twin and familial studies highlight a genetic background in hypospadias. Environmental factors have also been identified, particularly the exposure to endocrine disrupters. READ MORE

  3. 3. Alterations in receptor expression and function in scrapie-infected neuronal cell lines

    Author : Heléne Lindegren; Katarina Bedecs; David Brown; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi;

    Abstract : This study shows that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces a robust, concentration-and time-dependent increase in nitric oxide (NO) production in the murine neuroblastoma cell line N2a by increased expression of iNOS. However, in scrapie-infected N2a cells (ScN2a), the LPS-induced NO production was completely abolished. READ MORE

  4. 4. Understanding the response to EGFR targeting therapy in non-small-cell lung cancer using -omics approach

    Author : Yan Zhou Tran; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : NSCLC is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. EGFR targeted therapy is used to inhibit the progress of NSCLC, but patients inevitably develop resistance to EGFRTKIs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Molecular Epidemiology of Breast Cancer

    Author : Sophia Harlid; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Heritability; Methylation potential; CpG-SNPs; Common variants; Gene-environment interactions;

    Abstract : Hereditary breast cancer constitutes a considerable fraction of the total number of breast cancer cases occurring each year. Up until recently very few breast cancer predisposing genes were known, but many new common polymorphisms contributing to increased cancer susceptibility are continuously being identified. READ MORE
