6. Cytokine regulation in rodents with experimental arthritis
Abstract : The general aim of this project has been to try to elucidate the mechanisms behind induction of arthritis by using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemical methods to analyse the dynamics of the cytokine network in vivo, in the peripheral Iymphoid system and in the joints of rodents with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)and oil-induced arthritis (OIA). We first examined the kinetics of cytokine gene expression in vivo, in the draining Iymph nodes of DA rats following immunization with rat type II collagen (RCII) emulsified in Freund's incomplete adjuvant oil (FIA) or with only FIA, which are regimens that induce CIA and OIA, respectively. 7. Determination of protolytes by flow procedures : applications to liquors from the hydrometallurgical nickel industry
Abstract : The general intention of this work is to contribute inreplacing complicated and time consuming titration methods foracid/base determination in cases where a rapid answer is morevaluable than a very high accuracy. The versatility of FlowInjection Analysis (FIA) is utilised for the determination ofprotolyte compounds, considering their role in our daily lifeas well as in science and technology. READ MORE

8. Studies of the immunopathogenesis in three arthritis models in rats
Abstract : The immunopathogenesis of three arthritis models has been studied; oil-induced arthritis (OIA), homologous collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) and COMP-induced arthritis. The induction of a monophasic arthritis, OIA, in the DA rat with a single intradermal injection of Freund's incomplete adjuvant (FIA) was reported. READ MORE

9. Speciation of trace metals in the Baltic Sea with focus on the Euphotic zone
Abstract : Physicochemical speciation of iron (Fe) and the trace metals Cd, Cu, Co, Mn, Ni, and Zn were performed at four different locations in surface waters of the Baltic Sea. Measurements were performed during several months of the growth season at each station to obtain a detailed picture of the temporal variation in relation to phytoplankton growth. READ MORE

10. New directions in non-porous membrane extraction
Abstract : Complex biological and environmental samples require a high degree of selectivity in order to determine components therein. Sensitivity measures, such as analyte pre-concentration are often required for assessing composition quantitatively. READ MORE
