6. Telomere analysis of normal and neoplastic hematopoietic cells : studies focusing on fluorescence in situ hybridization and flow cytometry
Abstract : The telomeres are specialized structures at the end of the chromosomes composed of the repeated DNA sequence (TTAGGG)n and specific proteins bound to the DNA. The telomeres protect the chromosomes from degradation and end to end fusions. READ MORE

7. Mechanisms and Consequences of Chromosomal Instability in Malignant tumours
Abstract : In this thesis, telomere deficiency with subsequent anaphase bridging was found to be associated with chromosomal instability in established colorectal cancer cell lines and in Wilms tumour. In colorectal cancer cell lines, anaphase bridging was observed to generate both numerical and structural chromosomal aberrations and was also associated with the presence of multipolar mitoses. 8. Valorization of herring filleting co-products to silage - Control of protein hydrolysis and lipid oxidation during ensilaging and possibilities for separating herring silage into multiple products
Abstract : Industrial processing of herring ( Clupea harengus ) into convenience products such as fillets generates around 60% co-products being rich in both protein and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). A promising cost-efficient strategy to valorize these raw materials into food and/or feed ingredients would be to apply ensilaging, i.e. READ MORE

9. Detection of donor cells in recipient tissues after stem cell transplantation using FISH and immunophenotyping
Abstract : Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is curative therapy for many malignant and non-malignant diseases. Effective conditioning regimen is an important component of HSCT in order to achieve a successful engraftment and to pursue a curative treatment. Conditioning regimens consist of chemotherapy with or without total body irradiation. READ MORE
