  2. 2. From information management to task management in electronic mail

    Author : Juha Takkinen; Nahid Shahmehri; Patrick Lambrix; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; E-mail; Internet; Formal Language for Conversations FLC ; organisational memory OM ; user-centred; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Electronic mail (e-mail) is an under-utilised resource of information and knowledge. It could be an important part of the larger so-called organisational memory (OM)—if it were not so disorganised and fragmented. The OM contains the knowledge of the organisation’s employees, written records, and data. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dynamic and Static Diffractive Optics - some Examples

    Author : Björn Löfving; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; subwavelength grating; spatial light modulator; phase retrieval; diffractive optics; ferroelectric liquid crystal; analog-to-digital conversion; optical switch; feedback generated hologram;

    Abstract : Diffractive optics is a modern branch of optics, that exploits microstructures to manipulate the propagation of light. Fast computers and the progress in manufacturing technique of microelectronics have made possible a rapid development of diffractive optics during the past 10 years. READ MORE

  4. 4. Liquid Crystals in Guided Wave Optics

    Author : Giusy Scalia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antiferroelectric liquid crystals; fully-leaky guided mode; ortho-conics; waveguide; liquid crystals; anisotropy;

    Abstract : Liquid crystals are unique optical materials due to their large effective electrooptic and opto-optic coefficients. Currently, liquid crystals are primarily used in flat-panel dis-plays, but there is also an increasing number of nondisplay applications requiring new types of devices employing materials with unique optical properties. 5. 5. Experimental studies of human fetal liver cells : in regard to in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Bim Lindton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : In utero transplantation; fetal liver cells; mixed lymphocyte culture; CD3; CD56; HLA class II; parvovirus B 19 capsids; corticosteroids; cytotoxic drugs; colony formation.;

    Abstract : Successful in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation represents a potential step forward in the management of patients with severe inherited hematological, metabolic and immunological disorders. Animal data from a number of species have demonstrated evidence of engraftment, but to date the only effective in utero transplantations (IUTx) in humans have been performed in fetuses with severe immunodeficiencies, suggesting that the fetal immune system play a vital role in the success or failure of in utero transplantation.
