  1. 1. Holistic evaluation and testing of coil coatings

    Author : Alexander Wärnheim; C. Magnus Johnson; Per M. Claesson; Dan Persson; Carita Kvarnström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anti-corrosion coatings; Coil coating; Weathering; FTIR; nano-FTIR; Hyperspectral imaging; AFM; Nanomechanical properties; korrosionsskyddsbeläggnignar; bandlackerade beläggningar; väderbeständighetstestning; FTIR; nano-FTIR; hyperspectral avbildning; Atomkraftsmikroskopi; nanomekaniska egenskaper; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Coil coatings are durable  organic coatings used to protect metal sheets from corrosion and improve their aesthetic properties. Because of their extensive use, coil coatings have long been of interest for industrial and academic researchers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Photocatalysis for Indoor Air Cleaning : In situ FTIR and DFT Study of Acetaldehyde Photo-Oxidation on TiO2 and Sulfate-Modified TiO2

    Author : Bozhidar Stefanov; Lars Österlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TiO2; acetaldehyde; crotonaldehyde; dimer; adsorption; DFT; FTIR; photocatalysis; micro-kinetic modeling; acid–base properties; surface functionalization; Solid State Physics; Fasta tillståndets fysik; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Acetaldehyde is among the group of VOC’s causing the so-called "sick building" syndrome. WHO has estimated that this problem, related to the indoor air-quality, affects one third of all buildings worldwide. TiO2 is an attractive material for the photocatalytic removal of VOC’s in the indoor environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy in Industrial Hygiene Applications : Assessment of Emissions from and Exposures in Wood Processing Industries

    Author : Urban Svedberg; Christer Edling; Bo Galle; Hans-Erik Högberg; Nils Plato; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the use of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) as an approach to the increasingly difficult air sampling challenges within the field of occupational and environmental hygiene. The application of FTIR is exemplified by the assessment of emissions from and exposures in the sawmill and pellet industries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development and Application of Methods based on DOAS and FTIR Absorption Spectroscopy for Atmospheric Research

    Author : Bo Galle; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; open-path; nitrous oxide; DOAS; long-path absorption; landfill; methane; climate gases; ozone depletion; biogenic emissions; fugitive emissions; FTIR; ammonia;

    Abstract : Over the past decades concern about the environmental impact on our atmosphere from human activities has been constantly increasing. From the recognition of local industrial pollution in the first part of this century, over regional scale problems related to urbanisation and growth of traffic systems to global environmental problems such as climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion. 5. 5. Application of Infrared and UV-Visible Remote Sensing Techniques for Studying the Stratosphere and for Estimating Antrophogenic Emissions

    Author : Johan Mellqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratospheric ozone; temperature dependence; non linearity; FTIR; VOC; flue gas; DOAS; long path FTIR; fugitive emissions;

    Abstract : Infrared and UV/visible broadband absorption techniques have been used in three applications related to environmental research and atmospheric science. The techniques are based on measuring the attenuation of light by the atmosphere in the infrared and UV/visible region, and since a very large number of species absorb light in these wavelength regions, the techniques studied allow the measurement of several species simultaneously.
