    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Urban Svedberg; Christer Edling; Bo Galle; Hans-Erik Högberg; Nils Plato; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; FTIR; Exposure; Emission; Saw mills; Wood pellets; Tracer gas; Monoterpenes; Hexanal; Carbon monoxide; Open path FTIR; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the use of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) as an approach to the increasingly difficult air sampling challenges within the field of occupational and environmental hygiene. The application of FTIR is exemplified by the assessment of emissions from and exposures in the sawmill and pellet industries. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development and Application of Methods based on DOAS and FTIR Absorption Spectroscopy for Atmospheric Research

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Bo Galle; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; open-path; nitrous oxide; DOAS; long-path absorption; landfill; methane; climate gases; ozone depletion; biogenic emissions; fugitive emissions; FTIR; ammonia;

    Abstract : Over the past decades concern about the environmental impact on our atmosphere from human activities has been constantly increasing. From the recognition of local industrial pollution in the first part of this century, over regional scale problems related to urbanisation and growth of traffic systems to global environmental problems such as climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion. 3. 3. Application of Infrared and UV-Visible Remote Sensing Techniques for Studying the Stratosphere and for Estimating Antrophogenic Emissions

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Johan Mellqvist; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratospheric ozone; temperature dependence; non linearity; FTIR; VOC; flue gas; DOAS; long path FTIR; fugitive emissions;

    Abstract : Infrared and UV/visible broadband absorption techniques have been used in three applications related to environmental research and atmospheric science. The techniques are based on measuring the attenuation of light by the atmosphere in the infrared and UV/visible region, and since a very large number of species absorb light in these wavelength regions, the techniques studied allow the measurement of several species simultaneously. 4. 4. Photocatalysis for Indoor Air Cleaning : In situ FTIR and DFT Study of Acetaldehyde Photo-Oxidation on TiO2 and Sulfate-Modified TiO2

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Uppsala universitet

    Author : Bozhidar Stefanov; Lars Österlund; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TiO2; acetaldehyde; crotonaldehyde; dimer; adsorption; DFT; FTIR; photocatalysis; micro-kinetic modeling; acid–base properties; surface functionalization; Solid State Physics; Fasta tillståndets fysik; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Acetaldehyde is among the group of VOC’s causing the so-called "sick building" syndrome. WHO has estimated that this problem, related to the indoor air-quality, affects one third of all buildings worldwide. TiO2 is an attractive material for the photocatalytic removal of VOC’s in the indoor environment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of Volcanic Plumes with Remote Spectroscopic Sensing Techniques -DOAS and FTIR measurements on volcanoes of the Network for Observation of Volcanic and Atmospheric Change-

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Uppsala universitet

    Abstract : Volcanism is a rich geodynamical process, closely linked to the origin and ongoing evolution of the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Humans have benefited from the resources provided by volcanoes but also been threatened by the dangers of volcanic eruptions, which accurate prediction remains elusive. READ MORE
