  1. 21. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms

    Author : Mehrdad Shahabi Navid; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EDX; CO2; XPS; Mg and MgAl alloys; NaCl; Atmospheric corrosion; Characterization; 3D imaging; SEM; BIB; Thin film; FTIR; XRD; Pitting; Interference microscopy; FIB;

    Abstract : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. READ MORE

  2. 22. Computational infrared spectroscopy : Calculation of the amide I absorption of proteins

    Author : Cesare Michele Baronio; Andreas Barth; Sander Woutersen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; infrared spectroscopy; FTIR; simulation; calculation; amide I; transition dipole coupling; F matrix; protein; amyloid β; oligomers; β-helix; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : Infrared spectroscopy is an important technique that allows to retrieve structural information from the analysis of absorption spectra. The main application of infrared spectroscopy within life science is the study of the amide I band, which is correlated with protein backbone conformation and, consequently, with the secondary structure of proteins. 4. 24. Studies of NOx Storage Catalysts - Preparation, Characterization, Sulfur Deactivation and Micro Kinetic Modelling

    Author : JAZAER DAWODY; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kinetic modelling; metal oxide additives; NO oxidation; Zeta potential; FTIR; SO2 oxidation; Al2O3; NOx storage and reduction catalysts; TEM; BaCO3; SEM; Pt precursors; sulfur deactivation;

    Abstract : For the protection of the global environment, it is essential to decrease the emissions of CO2 which is a green house gas. Lean-burn and diesel engines offer relatively low CO2 emissions and good fuel economy. READ MORE

  5. 25. Spray-Dried Powders for Inhalation : Particle Formation and Formulation Concepts

    Author : Jessica Elversson; Göran Alderborn; Anna Millqvist-Fureby; Lars Hovgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Spray drying; Particle formation; Density; Protein formulation; Encapsulation; Coating; Competitive adsorption; Polymer; ESCA; AFM; FTIR; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Abstract : Spray drying is a method with a high potential in the preparation of protein particles suitable for pulmonary delivery. However, surface induced denaturation of bio-molecules during atomization and subsequent drying can be substantial and it is therefore important to develop new formulation concept for concurrent encapsulation and stabilization of proteins during spray drying.
