  1. 16. Ceria-based Nanostructured Materials for Low-Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Author : Ying Ma; Mamoun Muhammed; Bin Zhu; Randa Abdel-Karim; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : As one of the most efficient and environmentally benign energy conversion devices, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) have attracted much attention in recent years. Conventional SOFC with yttria-stabilized zirconia as electrolyte require high operation temperature (800-1000 °C), which causes significant problems like material degradation, as well as other technological complications and economic barrier for wider applications. 2. 17. Cr Vaporization and Oxide Scale Growth on Interconnects in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Author : Hannes Falk Windisch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Corrosion; Interconnect; Cr Vaporization; SOFC; Coatings;

    Abstract : The vaporization of Cr(VI) species and the greater electrical resistance caused by a growing oxide scale are probably the two most detrimental degradation mechanisms associated with the use of Cr2O3-forming alloys as the interconnect material in a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). High electrical efficiency, clean emissions and the possibility to utilize several types of fuels, such as hydrogen, alcohols and hydrocarbons are some of the great advantages of SOFC technology. 3. 18. Fuel conversion and ash formation interactions : a thermochemical study on lignocellulosic biomass

    Author : Anna Strandberg; Markus Broström; Rainer Backman; Christoffer Boman; Maria Zevenhoven; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Char conversion; pyrolysis; devolatilization; ash transformation; biomass; fuel characterization; fuel composition; ash composition; silicate formation; carbonate formation; thermogravimetric analysis; micro-tomography;

    Abstract : Biomass is considered to be CO2 neutral, and to be able to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels the need for expanded and sustainable biomass feedstock is increasing. Ash-related problems are some of the most important aspects of this increasing use of new biomass assortments in thermal energy conversion systems. READ MORE

  4. 19. Learning control for flex-fuel CI engine and fuel cell

    Author : Xiufei Li; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flex-fuel CI Engine; Fuel Cell; Model Predictive Control; Learning Control; Adaptive Control; Gas System Model; Ignition Delay Model; Data-based Modeling; Gaussian process;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated the modeling and control problems in the context of the flex-fuel compression-ignition (CI) engine and fuel cell, which shows great potential in the transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources.The modeling parts included the flex-fuel engine combustion process and intake system, and the system scale fuel cell model. Abstract : The world is today facing a serious problem with global warming, which is heading towards an appallingly high temperature level. The greater part of the overall climate science community agree that global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect, which depends largely on emitted CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuel.
