  1. 1. Studies on HIV-2 antibody mediated neutralisation, coreceptor usage and in vivo tropism

    Author : Andreas Mörner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : HIV-2; neutralising antibodies; V3; combinatorial library; phage display; Fab fragment; coreceptor; CCR5; CXCR4; HIV encephalitis; macrophages microglia;

    Abstract : Human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) is the second virus that causes AIDS in humans. It has a genetic identity with HIV-1 of 40-60% and similar genetic organisation and biological properties, but the two viruses are distinguished certain features. READ MORE

  2. 2. Puumala hantavirus : immune responses and vaccines

    Author : Cristina de Carvalho Nicacio; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Hantavirus; Puumala virus; nucleocapsid protein; neutralizing antibodies; Fab fragment; combinatorial library; phage-display; IgA; cellular immunity; cross-protection; intranasal vaccination;

    Abstract : Hantaviruses (family Bunyaviridae) is a group of closely related zoonotic rodent-borne viruses that are transmitted to humans through inhalation of infected rodent excreta. They cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) or hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) with varying degree of severity depending on the causative virus. READ MORE

  3. 3. Expression of recombinant neutralizing anti-HIV-1 antibodies in bacteria and eukaryotic cells

    Author : Fayezeh Yari; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Phage display; vector; monoclonal antibody; antigen; eukaryotic; prokaryotic; transfection; selection; transient expression; stable cell line; neutralizing antibody; expression; HIVA-1; gp41; gp120;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this study was to investigate and optimize techniques for eukaryotic expression of antibody molecules (IgG, Fab and scFV-ê formats), derived from an immune phage displayed Fab library and reactive against HIV-1 glycoproteins gp120 and gp41. Light and heavy-chain (Fd) DNA from a number of Fab clones were transferred from a prokaryotic phagemid vectors to mammalian expression vectors. READ MORE

  4. 4. Signal Enhancement by Dynamic Polymers in Quartz Crystal Microbalance Applications

    Author : Gunnar Dunér; Olof Ramström; Ian Nicholls; Andra Dedinaite; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Signal enhancement; QCM; polyelectrolytes; hydrogel; iniferter; photopolymerization; dynamic polymers; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract :  This licentiate thesis presents studies of signal enhancement by dynamic polymers in quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) applications. The aim of the study has been to determine the potential for the use of polymers on QCM sensors for signal enhancement in molecular interaction studies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Antibody-Fragments: Protein Engineering, Process Development, and their Application as Affinity Ligands

    Author : Laila Sakhnini; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Monoclonal Antibodies; Aggregation; Biophysical Characterisation; Process Development; Affinity Adsorbents; Monoclonal Antibodies; Aggregation; Biophysical Characterisation; Process Development; Affinity Adsorbents;

    Abstract : Monoclonal antibody (mAb) fragments have become the formats of choice for both biopharmaceuticals and ligands in analytical and preparative applications. Their smaller size enables additional advantages over full-length mAbs, such as improved tissue penetration, faster blood clearance for diagnostic applications, improved capacity, and enablement of multivalent formatting.
