  1. 1. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure

    Author : Björn Sjöstrand; Lars Nilsson; Christophe Barbier; David McDonald; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rewetting; forming fabric; forming section; dewatering; web dryness; high vacuum suction box; vacuum dewatering; forming fabric design; numerical model; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 2. 2. DEM Modelling of Unbound Granular Materials for Transport Infrastructures : On soil fabric and rockfill embankments

    Author : Ricardo de Frias Lopez; Johan Silfwerbrand; Leena Korkiala-Tanttu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discrete element method; granular materials; particle-scale behaviour; particle degradation; permanent deformation; resilient modulus; rockfill embankment; soil fabric; Diskreta elementmetoden; grusmaterial; verkningssätt på partikelnivå; nedbrytning; permanent deformation; styvhet; stenfylld bank; skelettstruktur; Transport Infrastructure; Transportinfrastruktur;

    Abstract : Unbound granular materials (UGM) are widely used as load-bearing layers and for embankment construction within transport infrastructures. These play a significant role on operation and maintenance of transportation systems. However, pavement and railway engineering still today rely heavily on empirical models based on macroscopic observations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quality Inspection and Evaluation of Smart or Functional Textile Fabric Surface by Skin Contact Mechanics

    Author : Melkie Getnet Tadesse; Cristian Vasile; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tactile comfort; expert; subjective evalaution; objective evalaution; smart fabric; functional fabric; skin contact; KES; sensory evalaution; sensory perception;

    Abstract : The rapid progress in consuming e-textiles has made a huge uprising in the researcher’s track on the course of smart and functional textile development. Consumption of functional and smart textiles in the wearable e-textile is fetching extra eye-catching scheme owing to its lightweight property, flexibility, stretchability, and the ability to be integrated into wearable apparel.
