  1. 1. Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Modelling of Anticancer Drugs Haematological Toxicity and Tumour Response in Hollow Fibres

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lena E Friberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi; PHARMACY; FARMACI; farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy;

    Abstract : Established quantitative relationships between dose, plasma concentrations and response [pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD) models] have a high potential in improving therapeutic indices of anticancer drug therapy and in increasing drug development efficiency. PKPD modelling is a helpful tool for characterising and understanding schedule dependence. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanism-Based Modelling of Clinical and Preclinical Studies of Glucose Homeostasis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Oskar Alskär; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glucose homeostasis; pharmacometrics; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy;

    Abstract : Glucose is an important nutrient and energy source in the body. However, too high concentration in the blood is harmful and may lead to several complications developing over time. It was estimated that 5 million people in the world died from complications related to diabetes during 2015. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of Methods for Assessing Unbound Drug Exposure in the Brain In vivo, in vitro and in silico

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Markus Fridén; Uppsala universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood-brain barrier; Drug transport; Tissue distribution; Transporters; Pharmacokinetics; PHARMACY Other pharmacy; FARMACI Övrig farmaci; PHARMACY Biopharmacy; FARMACI Biofarmaci; PHARMACY Pharmaceutical pharmacology; FARMACI Farmaceutisk farmakologi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Abstract : The blood-brain barrier is formed by tightly joined capillary cells with transporter proteins and acts as to regulate the brain concentration of nutrients as well as many drugs. When developing central nervous system drugs it is necessary to measure the unbound drug concentration in the brain, i.e. the unbound brain exposure. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanism-Based Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modelling of Paclitaxel

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anja Henningsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; Pharmacokinetics; Pharmacodynamics; Mechanism-based; Modelling; Myelosuppression; Paclitaxel; Cremophor EL; NONMEM; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Abstract : Paclitaxel (Taxol®) is now widely used against breast, ovarian and non-small-cell lung cancer. Anticancer agents generally have narrow therapeutic indices, often with myelosuppression (mainly neutropenia) as dose-limiting side effect. READ MORE

  5. 5. Using Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Principles to Evaluate Individualisation of Antibiotic Dosing – Emphasis on Cefuroxime

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anders Viberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; Cefuroxime; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; dosing individualisation; NONMEM; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Abstract : Cefuroxime is a renally eliminated antibiotic used against a variety of different bacterial infections. The pharmacokinetics (PK) for cefuroxime was studied in 97 hospitalized patients using population analysis. To be able to measure cefuroxime in human serum a new sensitive analytical method was developed using mass spectrometry detection. READ MORE
