  1. 1. Feedback Enhancement of Antibody Responses via Complement and Fc Receptors

    Author : Jörgen Dahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Mouse; transgenic knockout; immune regulation; B lymphocytes; Fc receptors; complement; IgG; IgM; IgE; Fc-gamma-RI; Fc-gamma-RII; Fc-gamma-RIII; CR1; CR2; CD21; CD35; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : IgG, IgM and IgE in complex with antigen have the capacity to regulate specific immune responses. In this investigation, the role of Fc receptors for IgG (FcγRI, FcγRII and FcγRIII) and complement receptors 1 and 2 (CR1/2) for antibody-mediated enhancement of antibody responses are investigated. 2. 2. Antibody responses and Fc gamma receptor IIa polymorphism in relation to Plasmodium falciparum malaria

    Author : Nnaemeka C. Iriemenam; Klavs Berzins; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Philippe Deloron; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; malaria; Plasmodium falciparum; blood-stage; antibodies; antigens; logistic models; risk factors; age factors; merozoites; IgG subclasses; Fc gamma RIIa; single nucleotide polymorphism; ethnicity; endemicity; disease susceptibility; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Immunity to asexual blood-stage of Plasmodium falciparum malaria is believed to be associated with protective antibodies of certain immunoglobulin classes and subclasses. This thesis addressed the importance of antibodies in relation to malaria infection and their effective interactions with Fc gamma receptor IIa (FcyRIIa) polymorphisms. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Role of Fc Gamma Receptors in Experimental Arthritis

    Author : Maria Andrén; Sandra Kleinau; Birgitta Heyman; Roland Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Rheumatoid arthritis; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Complement; Transgenic Knockout mice; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Induction of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), an animal model for human rheumatoid arthritis, is dependent on anti-collagen type II (CII) antibodies. The effector mechanism by which autoantibodies contribute to inflammatory reactions in autoimmune diseases is not well understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Role of Fc gamma Receptors and Mast Cell Chymase in Autoimmune Arthritis

    Author : Sofia Magnusson; Sandra Kleinau; Jeanette Leusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fc gamma receptors; rheumatoid arthritis; antibodies; mast cells; mast cell; Immunology; Immunologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : In autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), self-reactive antibodies are present at high levels, which contributes to disease pathogenesis. The antibodies mediate their effect predominantly by binding to Fc gamma receptors (FcγR) on various leukocytes, such as monocytes, macrophages and mast cells, where FcγR ligation leads to cell activation. 5. 5. B cells in Autoimmunity : Studies of Complement Receptor 1 & 2 and FcγRIIb in Autoimmune Arthritis

    Author : Kajsa Prokopec; Sandra Kleinau; Anna Erdei; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cells; complement receptors; fc gamma receptor IIb; autoimmune arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Abstract : B cells are normally regulated to prevent activation against self-proteins through tolerance mechanisms.  However, occasionally there is a break in tolerance and B cells can become self-reactive, which might lead to the development of autoimmune disease. READ MORE
