1. Growth of high quality Fe thin films : A study of the effect of mismatch strain on the physical properties of Fe
Abstract : The work in this licentiate is devoted to investigating the epitaxial growth of thin Fe layers on MgAl2O4 (001) and MgO (001) substrates using dc magnetron sputtering. The aim is to qualitatively and quantitatively determine the crystal quality of the grown Fe layers depending on their thickness, substrate material, and selected deposition parameters. READ MORE

2. Magnetic Properties of Epitaxial Metal/Oxide Heterostructures
Abstract : The work in this dissertation is devoted to tailoring and studying magnetic properties of epitaxial metal/oxide heterostructures. The aim is to understand the fundamental principles governing these properties and how they affect each other. The acquired knowledge can prove useful for the development of future spintronic devices. READ MORE

3. Investigations on the Oxidation of Iron-chromium and Iron-vanadium Molten Alloys
Abstract : With the progress of high alloy steelmaking processes, it is essential to minimize the loss of valuable metals, like chromium and vanadium during the decarburization process, from both economic as well as environmental view points. One unique technique to realize this aim, used in the present work, is the decarburization of high alloy steel grades using oxygen with CO2 in order to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen. 4. Structural and Magnetic Properties of Fe/Co (001) and Fe/V (001) Superlattices
Abstract : The structural and magnetic properties of Fe/Co (001) and Fe/V (001) superlattices have been investigated. The thin film structures were deposited on MgO (001) substrates using a four source ultra-high-vacuum based sputtering equipment. READ MORE

5. Thermodynamic study of the FeO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 system : Data assessment and phase diagram calculation
Abstract : This dissertation consists of assessed thermodynamic properties for phases in the geologically and industrially important system Fe-Mg-Al-Si-O and calculated phase diagrams. Mathematical processing of different kinds of experimental data (phase equilibrium data, calorimetric, volumetric, thermophysical, electrochemical, activity data) is used to derive internally consistent thermodynamic database.
