  1. 1. Optical properties of GaN and InGaN studied by time- and spatially-resolved spectroscopy

    Author : Tomas Uždavinys; Saulius Marcinkevičius; Audrius Alkauskas; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gallium nitride; InGaN; near-field microscopy; photoexcited carrier dynamics; intervalley energy; Fe centers; In incorporation; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The past decade has seen rapid expansion in the use of group III-nitride based devices. White InGaN LEDs are substituting incandescent light bulbs, space satellite industry adopting ion-radiation-resistant GaN transistors, and AlGaN deep UV LEDs are increasingly being used for water disinfection and air purification. 2. 2. Controlling function by structure-intermolecular interactions and crystal engineering with N-donor ligands

    Author : Mohamed I D M Ghazzali; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OPL; 10 phenanthroline]2 .; single crystal diffraction; intermolecular interactions; crystal engineering; Fe II coordination polymers; Schiff’s bases; porphyrins; intercalation; [ Ru tris-1;

    Abstract : In the solid state regime, crystal engineering based on non-covalent synthesis requires an intuition about the intermolecular forces that can dictate the molecular architecture. Hydrogen bonds have become an instrumental tool in the self assembly and supramolecular chemistry. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron paramagnetic resonance and biochemical studies of red-ox properties of the diferric/radical center in mouse and Mycobacterium tuberculosis ribonucleotide reductase R2 proteins

    Author : Albert Davydov; Marc Fontecave; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) catalyses the reduction of all four ribonucleotides to the corresponding deoxyribonucleotides that are used by the cells for DNA synthesis. The active enzyme from mouse, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) and aerobically grown E. READ MORE

  4. 4. Magnetism of Semiconductors and Metallic Multilayers

    Author : Victor Stanciu; Per Nordblad; Peter Svedlindh; Poul Erik Lindelof; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Magnetic order; Curie temperature; magnetic anisotropy; diluted magnetic III-V semiconductors; metallic magnetic multilayers; interlayer exchange coupling; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors and magnetic metallic multilayers are investigated by SQUID magnetometry. By doping GaAs with magnetic Mn2+ ions under well defined growth conditions, one obtains a diluted magnetic semiconductor, (Ga,Mn)As, in which the randomly-distributed magnetic ions act as acceptor centers. 5. 5. Formation of Thiolated Nucleosides in tRNA in Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium

    Author : Hans Lundgren; Glenn Björk; Charles Lauhon; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : tRNA; modified nucleosides; thiolation; sulfur metabolism; Salmonella; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The presence and synthesis of transfer RNA (tRNA) is highly conserved in all organisms and a lot of genetic material is dedicated to its synthesis. tRNA contains a large number of modified nucleosides and several diverse functions have been found but much about their function is still unknown.
