  1. 1. Inclusions and/or Particles Engineering for Grain Refining Purposes in Ferritic Fe-20mass%Cr alloys

    Author : Jesper Janis; Pär Jönsson; Keiji Nakajima; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inclusions; Particles; Grain size; High Cr; Ferritic; Grain refining; Solidification; Pinning effect; Stainless steel; Oxides; Nitrides; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : Compared to more common used austenitic stainless steels, ferritic stainless steels contain very low amounts of the expensive alloying element Ni. In addition, they have good corrosion properties, but are sometimes suffering from poor weldability and bad mechanical properties. READ MORE

  2. 2. Surface structure and catalytic activity of Pd and Fe oxide surfaces and thin films

    Author : Mikhail Shipilin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface X-ray diffraction SXRD ; Heterogeneous catalysis; Pd; PdO; Fe; FeO; Thin films; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Shipilin;

    Abstract : The present work is devoted to atomic scale structural studies of the surfaces of model heterogeneous catalysts relevant to oxidation reactions. A novel approach using high-energy surface X-ray diffraction combined with mass-spectrometry measurements is employed to perform in situ structural characterization of Pd(100) and Pd(553) single crystal surfaces acting as catalysts in the process of CO oxidation under semirealistic conditions. 3. 3. Metal release from powder particles in synthetic biological media

    Author : Klara Midander; Jinshan Pan; Mats Norell; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; metal release; stainless steel; Cu; powder particles; synthetic body fluids; test method; in vitro tests; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Humans are exposed to metals and metal-containing materials daily, either conscious, e.g. using metal tools or objects, or unconscious, e.g. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mössbauer Spectroscopy of Meteoritic and Synthetic Fe-Ni Alloys

    Author : Yassir Ahmed Mohamed Abdu; Hans Annersten; Tore Ericsson; Johan Linden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Meteorites; Tetrataenite; Antitaenite; Mössbauer spectroscopy; Mechanical alloying; Fe-Ni alloys; High pressure; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : This thesis reports on the results of investigating Fe-containing minerals in meteorites, with focus on Fe-Ni minerals and their magnetic properties, along with some synthetic Fe-Ni analogues. The New Halfa meteorite, which fell in Sudan 1994, has been studied using Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electron microprobe analysis techniques, and classified as an ordinary L-type chondrite of petrologic type 4. 5. 5. Elemental composition of fine particles: exposure in the general population and influence from different sources

    Author : Peter Molnár; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : particulate matter; PM2.5; PM1; ultrafine particles; trace elements; personal exposure; X-ray fluorescence XRF ; indoor levels; air mass back trajectories; long-range transport; domestic wood burning;

    Abstract : The general population is exposed to particulate air pollution from many different local and regional sources. Examples of local sources are traffic, biomass burning and resuspended dust, while regional sources are dominated by combustion processes from heating, traffic and industries. READ MORE
