  1. 1. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. 2. 2. Dynamic fixation of unstable trochanteric hip fractures. A clinical and radiographic evaluation of the Medoff sliding plate

    Author : Karl Lunsjö; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Radiography.; Implants; Hip fractures; Trochanteric; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : In stabilising extracapsular hip fractures, the Medoff sliding plate (MSP) differs from other screw-plates by its compression capacity along the femoral shaft (uniaxial dynamization). Additional compression along the neck of femur can be achieved by primary release of the lag screw (biaxial dynamization). READ MORE

  3. 3. Internal fixation of femoral neck fractures

    Author : Leif Hernefalk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Femoral neck fracture; osteotomy; internal fixation; device; technical principles; scintimetry; radiography; biomechanics; malposition; malreduction; complications; bone necrosis; revascularization; segmental collapse; non-union; elderly; osteoporosis; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The incidence of femoral neck fractures in elderly people is rising requiring large health care resources. Internal fixation of the fracture is the treatment of choice in Scandinavia, but in 20-40% of the cases a late complication such as a segmental collapse of the femoral head after initial bone necrosis, or a non-union of the fracture because of non-healing, will occur. 4. 4. Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ disease. Synovitis, cartilage, remodeling

    Author : Göran Eckerwall; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stromelysin; Sonography; Remodeling; Proteoglycan; Pressure; Osteotomy; MRI; MR imaging; Metaphysis; Legg-Calvé-Perthes; Histology; Hip; Arthrography; Child; Synovitis; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates and correlates the findings in a series of children with Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ Disease at the Departments of Orthopedics, University Hospitals in Lund, Sweden and Odense, Denmark during 1984-1993. It focuses on the importance of synovitis and its effect on the cartilage, on the shape of the femoral head in the early phases of LCPD and on femoral head remodeling after proximal femoral varus derotation osteotomy. 5. 5. Influence of postoperative treatment, surface treatment and stem design on the outcome of primary total hip arthroplasty

    Author : Truike Thien; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Primary total hip arthroplasty; anteverted stem; stem design; cemented and cementless fixation; radiostereometry; bone mineral density; clinical outcome;

    Abstract : Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of postoperative treatment, surface treatment and stem design on the outcome of primary Total Hip Arthroplasty. The main intention was to study anteverted femoral stems. READ MORE
