    Abstract : The chemical elicitor methyl jasmonate (MeJA) could replace insecticides in Europe and Asia for protection of young conifers against the pine weevil (Hylobius abietis). This thesis mainly focuses on the effects of MeJA treatment on chemical defenses of conifers from seedling batches with documented field resistance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development and Application of Enzyme- and Antibody-based Assays with Emphasis on Selectivity, Sensitivity and Stability

    University dissertation from Catalin Nistor, Department of Analytical Chemistry, Lund University

  3. 3. Use of tyre shreds in civil engineering applications technical and environmental properties

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Tommy Edeskär; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Abstract : End-of-life tyres are a disposal problem regarding the large volumes produced every year. Tyre shreds are primarily produced to reduce the transportation volumes of end-of-life tyres after collection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modifying Cooking Practices to Reduce the Formation of Heterocyclic Amines

    University dissertation from Division of Applied Nutrition and Food Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Elna Hallgard; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; cancer; frying; mutagens; beefburger; chicken; heterocyclic amines; cooking;

    Abstract : Commonly cooked meat dishes contain heterocyclic amines (HAs) at ng/g levels. HAs are animal carcinogens, form DNA adducts in human tissues, and have been associated with increased risk of cancer in epidemiological studies, and it is thus recommended that human intake be decreased. Abstract : The anatomy, function and plasticity of the primary olfactory centre, the antennal lobe (AL), of the desert locust Schistocerca gregaria was investigated using a number of neuroanatomical and neurophysiological methods. Anatomical characterisation of the AL in a number of orthopteran species made it possible to deduce a model concerning the evolution of microglomeruli. READ MORE
