1. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors
Abstract : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied. 2. Silicon carbide field-effect devices studied as gas sensors for exhaust gas monitoring
Abstract : Metal-insulator-silicon carbide (MIS) structures have been studied as gas sensors. We have investigated how the sensors detect gases, how fast they do that, and how they could be used for exhaust gas monitoring. We have prepared simple field-effect devices, MIS-capacitors and Schottky diodes, on silicon carbide with platinum gates. 3. Wood and fibre mechanics related to the thermomechanical pulping process
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to improve the understanding of some aspects on wood and fibre mechanics related to conditions in the thermomechanical pulping process. Another objective was to measure the power distribution between the rotating plates in a refiner. READ MORE

4. Silicon Nanowire Field-Effect Devices as Low-Noise Sensors
Abstract : In the past decades, silicon nanowire field-effect transistors (SiNWFETs) have been explored for label-free, highly sensitive, and real-time detections of chemical and biological species. The SiNWFETs are anticipated for sensing analyte at ultralow concentrations, even at single-molecule level, owing to their significantly improved charge sensitivity over large-area FETs. READ MORE

5. Processing and characterization of thin film field effect gas sensors
Abstract : At Applied Physics, Linköping University, the main interest for sensor research has been the focused on MISFET (Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors) and related devices. The gas sensitivity of MISFET’s was first reported by Lundström et al. in 1975. Today a lot of work is being done in this field. READ MORE
