1. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements
Abstract : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 2. Measurement systems and process orientation with focus on the order process
Abstract : The inability of organisations to develop successfully and their lack of a holistic view and of relevant quantitative facts are factors that played a major role in my choice of a research area for this and my licentiate thesis (Ljungberg, 1994). These two theses together represent the work conducted for the PhD degree. READ MORE

3. Modelling and Validation of Industrial Measurement Systems - Aspects of Quality and Human Factors
Abstract : Although there is a fairly large number of books and articles concerning the validation of technical measurement systems, there are only a few which take into account the whole measurement system consisting of both technical and non-technical aspects. A measurement system comprises both the measurement process and the human being who conducts the measurement. READ MORE

4. Optimal Near-field Antenna Apertures in Lossy Media
Abstract : Antennas are traditionally designed for far-field applications such as wireless communications, radar, etc., where the antenna systems interact with other systems and objects which are located in the far-field zone of the antennas. READ MORE

5. Studies in Glacier Mass Balance : Measurement and its errors
Abstract : The study of the surface mass balance of valley glaciers has a long history but one that is dogged by uncertainty and errors, and uncertainty about those errors. These problems are acknowledged by the glaciological community and have been examined and formalised in several publications. READ MORE
