16. The rolling resistances of roller skis and their effects on human performance during treadmill roller skiing
Abstract : Modern ski-treadmills allow cross-country skiers, biathletes and ski-orienteers to test their physical performance in a laboratory environment using classical and freestyle techniques on roller skis. For elite athletes the differences in performance between test occasions are quite small, thus emphasising the importance of knowing the roller skis’ rolling resistance coefficient, µR, in order to allow correct comparisons between the results, as well as providing the opportunity to study work economy between different athletes, test occasions and core techniques. 17. The physiological impact of soccer on elite female players and the effects of active recovery training
Abstract : Female soccer is becoming more popular and professional in the world. There are, however, limited scientific data available on how elite female players respond to physical stress during soccer games. An effective recovery strategy following a game is important, because there are few recovery days between the games in international tournaments. READ MORE

18. Effects of exercise and amino acid intake on mechanisms regulating protein synthesis and breakdown in human muscle
Abstract : Skeletal muscle adapts differently to specific modes of exercise, where resistance training results in muscle growth and endurance training induces mitochondrial biogenesis. These are results of molecular events that occur after each exercise session, increasing the expression of specific genes and the rate of both synthesis and breakdown of protein. READ MORE

19. The significance of feedback de-excitation
Abstract : During photosynthesis sunlight is absorbed by photosynthetic pigments and converted into organic compounds, such as carbohydrates. Photosynthesis needs to be highly regulated, since both too much and too little light are harmful to plant. READ MORE

20. Fish on drugs : behaviour modifying contaminants in aquatic ecosystems
Abstract : Contamination of surface waters is a worldwide problem. One group of emerging contaminants that reach aquatic ecosystems via sewage treatment plant effluents and agricultural run-offs is pharmaceuticals. READ MORE
