  1. 1. Internal fixation of femoral neck fractures

    Author : Leif Hernefalk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Femoral neck fracture; osteotomy; internal fixation; device; technical principles; scintimetry; radiography; biomechanics; malposition; malreduction; complications; bone necrosis; revascularization; segmental collapse; non-union; elderly; osteoporosis; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The incidence of femoral neck fractures in elderly people is rising requiring large health care resources. Internal fixation of the fracture is the treatment of choice in Scandinavia, but in 20-40% of the cases a late complication such as a segmental collapse of the femoral head after initial bone necrosis, or a non-union of the fracture because of non-healing, will occur. 2. 2. Antibody-based subcellular localization of the human proteome

    Author : Marie Skogs; Emma Lundberg; Hans Blom; Cecilia Williams; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human proteome; Subcellular localization; Organelles; Immunofluorescence; Fixation; Permeabilization; Antibody validation; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the use of antibodies and immunofluorescence for subcellular localization of proteins. The key objective is the creation of an open-source atlas with information on the subcellular location of every human protein. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards subcellular localization of the human proteome using bioimaging

    Author : Charlotte Stadler; Emma Lundberg; Carolina Wählby; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibody; antibody validation; automated image analysis; automated microscopy; cell line; confocal microscopy; fixation; green fluorescent protein GFP ; immunofluorescence IF ; organelle; protein expression; siRNA; subcellular localization;

    Abstract : Since the publication of the complete sequence of the human genome in 2003 there has been great interest in exploring the functions of the proteins encoded by the genes. To reveal the function of each and every protein, investigation of protein localization at the subcellular level has become a central focus in this research area, since the localization and function of a protein is closely related. Abstract : The present work is analyzing the general biomechanical aspects of fixation techniques in the upper and lower cervical spine along with clinical implications.The in vitro biomechanical properties of five different posterior atlanto-axial fixation techniques are compared. READ MORE

  5. 5. On fixation of hip resurfacing implants

    Author : Raed Itayem; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Hip resurfacing;

    Abstract : Hip resurfacing became a recognized entity in hip replacement in the 1970’s. This generation of resurfacing implants was abandoned due to loosening and debris. READ MORE
