    Author : Andreas Bengtsson; Monica Ek; Maria Sedin; Elisabet Brännvall; Elisabeth Sjöholm; Johannes Ganster; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon fiber; Carbonization; Cellulose; Kraft pulp; Softwood kraft lignin; Solution spinning; Stabilization; Barrvedslignin; Cellulosa; Karbonisering; Kolfiber; Lösningsmedelsspinning; Stabilisering; Sulfatmassa; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Carbon fibers (CFs) have excellent mechanical properties and a low density, making themattractive as a reinforcing fiber in composites. The use of CFs is limited to high-end applications,since they are produced from an expensive fossil-based precursor via an energy-intensivemanufacturing process, explaining the need for cheaper CFs from renewables. 2. 22. Advances in Mass Spectrometry for the Analysis of Emerging Persistent Organic Pollutants

    Author : Lauren Gayle Mullin; Leo W. Y. Yeung; Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Jean-François Focant; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass Spectrometry; Liquid Chromatography; Supercritical Fluid Chromatography; Ion Mobility; POPs; Electrospray Ionization;

    Abstract : Mass spectrometry (MS) is a technique widely implemented for the measurement of environmental pollutants. A critical tool for the analysis of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) over several decades, MS as coupled with liquid and gas chromatography (LC and GC) techniques enables the analysis of emerging POPs. 3. 23. Development and application of high-throughput methods for analysis of persistent organic pollutants in human blood

    Author : Samira Salihovic; Bert van Bavel; Lars Lind; Myrto Petreas; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human blood; POPs; Perfluoroalkylated substances; Structural isomers; Sample preparation; Column-switch; Mass spectrometry; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The general public is continuously exposed to a wide range of environmental pollutants. This thesis focuses on a group of anthropogenic chemicals referred to as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that have been linked to various adverse health effects in humans. READ MORE

  4. 24. Toxicogenomic responses in Daphnia magna

    Author : Asmerom Seyoum; Per-Erik Olsson; Ajay Pradhan; Joachim Sturve; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ERA; organic pollutants; toxicogenomic; phthalate; PFAS and DBE-DBCH;

    Abstract : Detection of various organic contaminants in the aquatic environment at low concentrations, has raised concerns for animal and human health. Structural similarities of these compounds to estrogens and ecdysones suggests that organic pollutants may interfere with hormonal system of aquatic organisms. READ MORE

  5. 25. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

    Author : Johanna Tollbäck; Ulrika Nilsson; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air sampling; sampling methods; indoor air; SPE; SPME; extraction; dynamic extraction; online coupling; SWE; subcritical water extraction; GC MS; LC MS; organophosphate triesters; PAH; tetrabromobisphenol A; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS).
