  1. 11. Graphene FET terahertz detectors on flexible substrates

    Author : Xinxin Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensors; THz detectors; flexible electronics; 2D materials; Graphene; field-effect transistors; plastic substrates.;

    Abstract : Terahertz (THz) science and technology have developed rapidly over the past decades, extending the THz application areas from spectroscopy and earth and space sciences to communications, biomedicine and security sensing. Many of these emerging applications require shape-conforming, light-weight and low-cost detectors rather than existing solid-state detection technology. READ MORE

  2. 12. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 3. 13. Corotational formulation for nonlinear analysis of flexible beam structures

    Author : Thanh Nam Le; Jean-Marc Battini; Jari Mäkinen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Corotational method; nonlinear dynamic analysis; beam element; large displacements; finite rotations; time stepping method; cubic interpolations;

    Abstract : Flexible beam structures are popular in civil and mechanical engineering. Many of these structures undergo large displacements and finite rotations, but with small deformations. Their dynamic behaviors are usually investigated using finite beam elements. A well known method to derive such beam elements is the corotational approach. READ MORE

  4. 14. Nonlinear dynamics of flexible structures using corotational beam elements

    Author : Thanh-Nam Le; Jean-Marc Battini; Reijo Kouhia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corotational method; nonlinear dynamics; large displacements; finite rotations; time stepping method; thin-walled cross-section; beam element;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to develop corotational beam elements for the nonlinear dynamic analyse of flexible beam structures. Whereas corotational beam elements in statics are well documented, the derivation of a corotational dynamic formulation is still an issue. READ MORE

  5. 15. Stiffness modification of tensegrity structures

    Author : Seif Dalilsafaei; Anders Eriksson; Karl-Gunnar Olsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : tensegrity; boom; finite element analysis; genetic algorithm; flexibility analysis; active structure; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Although the concept of tensegrity structures was invented in the beginning of the twentieth century, the applications of these structures are limited, partially due to their low stiffness. The stiffness of tensegrities comes from topology, configuration, pre-stress and initial axial element stiffnesses. READ MORE
