  1. 1. Sampling from large flotation cells : An invastigation of spatial distribution

    Author : Lisa Malm; Jan Rosenkranz; Tommy Karlkvist; Anders Sand; Nils-Johan Bolin; Pertti Lamberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flotation; sampling; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : The general trend in flotation technology today is towards larger flotation cells, which enables a higher throughput. However, adverse effects such as segregation and reduced froth transport efficiency have also been observed in larger cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dissolved Air Flotation

    Author : Mia Bondelind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; two- and three-dimensional; Dissolved Air Flotation DAF ; aggregation model; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; field study; surface forces; turbulence; single and multiphase flow;

    Abstract : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a well-established treatment method for water containing low density particles. The density-driven process is operated by the injection of water saturated with air under high pressure. At the pressure reduction microscopic air bubbles are formed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sulphide mineral flotation : a new insight into oxidation mechanisms

    Author : Alireza Javadi; Jan D. Miller; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Formation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidizing agent stronger than oxygen, by sulphide minerals during grinding was investigated. It was found that pyrite (FeS2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite ((Zn,Fe)S), and galena (PbS), which are the most abundant sulphide minerals on Earth, generated H2O2 in pulp liquid during wet grinding in the presence or devoid of dissolved oxygen in water and also when the freshly ground solids are placed in water immediately after dry grinding. 4. 4. Flotation chemistry of complex sulphide ores : recycling of process water and flotation selectivity

    Author : Fatai Kolawole Ikumapayi; Jaakko Leppinen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : Recycling of flotation effluents through the ore processing plant is one of the ways of reducing both plant-operating costs and industrial impact onto the local ecosystem. Such waters named acid mine drainage (AMD), if discharged from sulphide flotation are gypsum (CaSO4.H2O) saturated and have a high salinity (on the order of 1000 ppm). READ MORE

  5. 5. Application of Chemical Additives in Minerals Beneficiation – Implications on Grinding and Flotation Performance

    Author : Vitalis Chipakwe; Saeed Chehreh Chelgani; Jan Rosenkranz; Tommy Karlkvist; Irina Chernyshova; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy; Grinding aid; Flowability; Dry grinding; FT4 Powder Rheometer; Surface properties; Rheology; Flotation; Polymers; Surface chemistry; Green Chemistry; Mineral Processing; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : The application of chemical additives, known as grinding aids (GAs), dates to 1930 in the cement industry. Unlike the cement industry, where the use of GAs is in the final processing step, it could be one of the first processing steps in ore beneficiation. READ MORE
