  1. 1. On parabolic equations of Kolmogorov-Fokker-Planck type

    Author : Malte Litsgård; Kaj Nyström; Ugo Gianazza; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kolmogorov equation; degenerate parabolic; ultraparabolic; Lipschitz domain; Dirichlet problem; boundary behaviour; parabolic measure.; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis solutions to Kolmogorov-Fokker-Planck type equations are studied. It consists of a comprehensive summary and four scientific articles.In the first article a potential theory for certain strongly degenerate parabolic operators in unbounded domains of Lipschitz type is developed. 2. 2. Solar modulation of galactic particles : numerical integration of the steady Fokker-Planck equation

    Author : Nicolas J. Martinic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. Fibre Orientation Modelling Applied to Contracting Flows Related to Papermaking

    Author : Marko Hyensjö; Anders Dahlkild; Markku Kataja; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fokker-Planck; fibre orientation; shear flow; fibre suspension; planar contraction; headbox; turbulent flow; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The main goal of this work was to develop numerical models for studying the behaviour of fibres in an accelerated flow. This is of special interest for e.g. papermaking. READ MORE

  4. 4. Numerical Methods for Stochastic Modeling of Genes and Proteins

    Author : Paul Sjöberg; Per Lötstedt; Måns Ehrenberg; Achim Schroll; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; master equation; Fokker-Planck equation; stochastic models; biochemical reaction networks; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Stochastic models of biochemical reaction networks are used for understanding the properties of molecular regulatory circuits in living cells. The state of the cell is defined by the number of copies of each molecular species in the model. READ MORE

  5. 5. Kinetic modelling of runaway in plasmas

    Author : Ola Embréus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fokker-Planck equation; synchrotron radiation; plasma; runaway; bremsstrahlung; Boltzmann equation;

    Abstract : The phenomenon of runaway occurs in plasmas in the presence of a strong electric field, which overcomes the collisional friction acting on the charged particles moving through the plasma. A subpopulation of particles can then be accelerated to energies significantly higher than the thermal energy. READ MORE
