  1. 1. Hereditary Angioedema in Sweden : a National Project

    Author : Patrik Nordenfelt; Jan Fredrik Björkander; Carl-Fredrik Wahlgren; Mats Nilsson; Hilary J. Longhurst; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) due to C1-inhibitor deficiency, type I and II, is a rare disease with an estimated prevalence of 1/50,000. Angioedema in the larynx can be life threatening and angioedema in the abdomen and skin can give severe and disabling pain. Data on patients with HAE in Sweden were scarce before our study. 2. 2. Management control for sustainability : Activities and procedures for energy management in industrial companies

    Author : Josefine Rasmussen; Mikael Ottosson; Henrik Nehler; Fredrik Tell; Fredrik Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sustainability management control; energy management; energy efficiency investments; decision-making; activities and procedures; non-energy benefits; energy-intensive industries; Energiledning; investeringar i energieffektivisering; styrning; beslutsfattande; aktiviteter; procedurer; mervärden; energiintensiv industri;

    Abstract : The thesis takes its point of departure in the important role of the industrial sector in mitigating climate change through a reduced energy use. There is a lack of understanding for how energy management should be organised and implemented in industrial companies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Unifying first-principles and model approaches for strongly correlated materials : Interplay between long- and short-range correlations

    Author : Fredrik Nilsson; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; first-principle methods; strongly correlated materials; GW approximation; cRPA; random-phase approximation; dynamical mean-field theory; GW DMFT; downfolding;

    Abstract : In materials with open 3$d$ and 4$f$ shells the valence electrons are relatively localized around the atoms which leads to large electron-electron correlations. These, so called strongly correlated materials, exhibit many intriguing properties such as high $T_c$ superconductivity, colossal magneto-resistance and heavy fermion behaviour. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Complex Adaptive System Approach on Logistics - Implications of adopting a complexity perspective

    Author : Fredrik Nilsson; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; logistics systems; logistics; paradigm; epistemology; complex adaptive systems; complexity theory;

    Abstract : The quest of developing the logistics discipline, with a more theoretical foundation, is something several authors have emphasized and called for. Today one could argue that most of the research on logistics has a strong connection to the positivistic paradigm where there is a great emphasis on prediction, rationality and control in the solutions produced. 5. 5. Adaptive Logistics - Using Complexity Theory to Facilitate Increased Effectiveness in Logistics

    Author : Fredrik Nilsson; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; complexity thinking ; epistemology; logistics; logistics systems ; paradigm; Teknik; Technological sciences; complexity theory ;

    Abstract : Logistics is gaining increased attention in companies since interconnectivity is increasing, and the interdependence among actors is enhanced due to challenges organizations are facing today (market changes, novel strategies, and technological improvements). While the logistics discipline has been characterized by an efficiency focus based on positivistic assumptions, the challenges of today require a focus on effectiveness i. READ MORE
