1. Effects of Free Fatty Acids on Insulin and Glucagon Secretion : – with special emphasis on the role of Free fatty acid receptor 1
Abstract : Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is still rising and even so in the juvenile population. Obesity is highly associated with increased risk for developing T2DM. READ MORE

2. Free Fatty Acid Receptor 2 - A G protein coupled receptor with unique signaling properties in neutrophils
Abstract : The overall aim of the PhD thesis was to determine the role of neutrophil pattern recognition receptors in the initiation and resolution of inflammatory processes. Neutrophil pattern recognition receptors such as the formyl peptide receptors (FPRs) and the short free fatty acid receptors (FFARs) belong to the family of G protein coupled receptors (GPCR). 3. Common variants in genes regulating free fatty acid metabolism and risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
Abstract : Abstract The present study evaluated genetic and metabolic factors influencing the risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) with special reference to increased concentrations of free fatty acids (FFA) in 1174 Swedish diabetic and nondiabetic subjects. Common polymorphisms in the fatty acid binding protein 2 (FABP2), the B2-adrenergic receptor (B2-AR), the B3 -adrenergic receptor (B3-AR) and the uncoupling protein 1 (UCP-1) genes were related to anthropometric and metabolic variables. 4. The Free Fatty Acid Receptor GPR40 - expression and role in islet hormone secretion
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a serious condition of growing proportions. Developing via an increasing imbalance between insulin sensitivity in the peripheral tissues and insulin release from pancreatic beta-cells, it ultimately renders the individual incapable of regulating the blood glucose concentration, e.g. after a meal. 5. Sources of Arachidonic Acid in Platelets, Bone, Marrow and Gastrointestinal Tract
Abstract : This study investigates pathways by which the eicosanoid precursor pools in the platelets, bone marrow and the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa are acquired and regulated, and in this context some aspects on the interaction between triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins and platelets. 1.
