16. On Turbulence Modelling for Bilge Vortices: A Test of Eight Models for Three Cases
Abstract : This work is a test, in three steps, of turbulence models for the calculation of the flow field around ships. Eight models ranging from k-e and k-w models to a Reynolds-stress model (RSM) are tested. READ MORE

17. Numerical Simulation of Some Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Phenomena for Gas Turbine Blades and a Transonic Turbine Stage
Abstract : With the attempts to achieve higher thermal efficiency, turbine blades are exposed to very high temperature gases and may undergo severe thermal stress and fatigue. Thus, in order to develop optimal cooling strategies and reduce the heat transfer it is important to obtain a good understanding of both the complex flow field and the heat transfer characteristics in turbine rotor/stator hot-gas passages. 18. Simulations of turbulent boundary layers with suction and pressure gradients
Abstract : The focus of the present licentiate thesis is on the effect of suction and pressure gradients on turbulent boundary-layer flows, which are investigated separately through performing numerical simulations. The first part aims at assessing history and development effects on adverse pressure-gradient (APG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL). 19. Attenuation of boundary layer disturbances by means of streamwise vortices
Abstract : The stability of the boundary layer developed on a flat plate is studied in the presence of streamwise streaks where disturbances of different types are introduced in the wall-bounded shear layer. The experimental investigations are aimed at flow control by means of passively damping the energy growth of the disturbances in the streaky boundary layer and furthermore delay the onset of the transition in the streamwise direction. 20. Experimental study on turbulent boundary-layer flows with wall transpiration
Abstract : Wall transpiration, in the form of wall-normal suction or blowing through a permeable wall, is a relatively simple and effective technique to control the behaviour of a boundary layer. For its potential applications for laminar-turbulent transition and separation delay (suction) or for turbulent drag reduction and thermal protection (blowing), wall transpiration has over the past decades been the topic of a significant amount of studies.
