1. Characterization of candidate disease genes from human chromosomes 11g13 and 22q
Abstract : Two regions of the human genome, 11q13 and 22q, have been shown to harbor numerous disease-related genes, among them tumor suppressor genes (TSGs). The aim of this project was to construct transcription maps within these chromosomal segments, and thus provide a basis for further analysis of some of the genes for their involvement in disease-related processes. 2. Evolution and Ecology of AhR genes in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)
Abstract : In vertebrates, studies of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) have been of particular interest due to its direct involvement in the toxic effects exerted by several environmental pollutants, such as PCB and dioxin. After binding to the toxic molecule, this receptor initiates transcription of several genes that are part of the biotransformation battery but most notably the cytochrome P450 (CYP) genes, which results in an excessive release of oxidative enzymes and free radicals. 3. Novel extrahepatic P450 enzymes with emphasis on the tumor specific CYP2W1
Abstract : Cytochrome P450 is a superfamily of enzymes involved in the metabolism of endogenous and exogenous compounds. The P450 enzymes are expressed at high levels in the liver, but are also found in extrahepatic tissues and in transformed tissues. READ MORE

4. Identification, cloning and characterization of the p53 induced gene human Wig-1
Abstract : The tumor suppressor p53 is a transcription factor that responds to various kinds of cellular stress. In respons to the sensed stress it is able to induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. In order to achieve these effects it transactivates target genes. READ MORE
