  1. 11. Photo-polymerization as a tool for engineering the active material in organic field-effect transistors

    Author : Andrzej Dzwilewski; Ludvig Edman; Xavier Crispin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Field-effect transistor; photo-polymerization; PCBM; C60; Fullerene; Physics; Fysik; fasta tillståndets fysik; Solid State Physics;

    Abstract : The emergence of organic semiconductors is exciting since it promises to open up for straightforward and low-cost fabrication of a wide range of efficient and novel electronic devices. However, in order for this promise to become reality it is critical that new and functional fabrication techniques are developed. READ MORE

  2. 12. Theoretical Characterization of Functional Molecular Materials

    Author : Xiuneng Song; Yi Luo; Mauro Stener; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; first-principles; soft X-ray spectroscopy; endohedral fullerene; fullerene derivatives; self-assembled monolayers; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Abstract : Nowadays, material, energy and information technologies are three pillar industries. The materials that have close relation with our life have also been the foundation for the development of energy and information technologies. READ MORE

  3. 13. Giant Dipole Resonances as Probes of Local Environment in Molecules, Clusters and Solidsl

    Author : Jarek Luberek; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single center; photoionization; fullerene; coupled channels; LDA; giant dipole resonance; embedded; time-dependent local density;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I study effects of the local environment on the giant dipole resonances (GDR) in lanthanides and actinides. The effects of embedding in jellium, bonding in small molecules and incorporation into different fullerene systems are studied. READ MORE

  4. 14. Synthesis and Evaluation of Photoactive Pyridine Complexes for Electron Transfer Studies and Photoelectrochemical Applications

    Author : Judit Modin; Helena Grennberg; Leif Hammarström; Jean-François Nierengarten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Fullerene; solar cell; bipyridines; Ruthenium; organic synthesis; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the preparation of new photoactive substances containing mono- and bipyridines coordinated to ruthenium is presented together with initial evaluations of their photoelectrochemical and photophysical properties. Complexes of the type Ru(bpy)2(4-X-py)2 (X = SH, COOH) were prepared and used in Grätzel-type solar cells based on ZnO. READ MORE

  5. 15. Carbon-based magnetic nanomaterials

    Author : Valeria Zagaynova; Tatiana Makarova; Mauro Ricco; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon nanotube; fullerene; single molecular magnet; Mn12; graphite fluoride; nanoporous carbon; molecular magnetism; magnetic properties; SQUID magnetometry; x-ray diffraction; Raman spectroscopy; Materials Science; materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Magnetism of carbon-based materials is a challenging area for both fundamental research and possible applications. We present studies of low-dimensional carbon-based magnetic systems (fullerene-diluted molecular magnets, carbon nanotubes, graphite fluoride, and nanoporous carbon) by means of SQUID magnetometer, X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopy, the latter techniques used as complementary instruments to find a correlation between the magnetic behaviour and the structure of the samples.
