  1. 1. Transition Metal-Mediated Selective Functionalizations of Bio-Derived Building Blocks

    Author : Petter Dunås; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phenols; Heck reaction; microbial arene oxidation; green chemistry; domino reactions; chirality transfer; palladium; metal carbonyl; azulenes; renewable resources; iron;

    Abstract : In order to transition to a more sustainable chemical industry, it is necessary to replace the fossil starting materials that are largely used today with renewable ones. Starting materials available from abundant natural sources, or which can be efficiently produced via a biotransformation, are of high interest in this regard. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multi-functional Hyaluronan Based Biomaterials for Biomedical Applications

    Author : Xia Yang; Dmitri Ossipov; Matthias Lutolf; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis presents strategies for constructing multi-functional biomaterials based on hyaluronan (HA) derivatives for various biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and imaging biomaterials. The aim of this study is to improve the functionalities of HA biomaterials as well as simplify the preparation procedures. READ MORE

  3. 3. New Reactivity in Diaryliodonium Salt Chemistry

    Author : Erika Linde; Berit Olofsson; Thomas Wirth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Diaryliodonium salts (Ar2IX) have emerged as versatile multi-purpose reagents with desirable properties such as easy accessibility, low toxicity and applicability under mild and metal-free reaction conditions. Despite displaying broad utility in arylations of both carbon and heteroatom nucleophiles, the overall sustainability of these protocols is compromised by featuring poor atom economy due to the formation of stochiometric iodoarene byproducts.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : 2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole (BTD) has arisen as a scaffold of interest to a variety of fields including materials chemistry and medicinal chemistry. It is utilized in the development of light emitting materials, solar-cells, and batteries. READ MORE

  5. 5. Covalent Graphene Functionalization for the Modification of Its Physical Properties

    Author : Hu Li; Klaus Leifer; Annick Loiseau; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphene; functionalization; nanomechanical property; graphene nanoscroll;

    Abstract : Graphene, a two dimensional monolayer carbon sheet with the atoms tightly packed in a hexagonal lattice, has exhibited so many excellent properties, which enable graphene to break several material records with regard to carrier mobility, strength yield and thermal conductivity to name a few. Therefore, graphene has been placed as a potential candidate to allow truly next-generation material. READ MORE
