  1. 21. Language and executive functions in Swedish preschoolers

    Author : Signe Tonér; Tove Nilsson Gerholm; Francisco Lacerda; Sven Strömqvist; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : The main goals of this dissertation are to investigate the associations between language and executive functions, including selective auditory attention, in Swedish children aged 4–6, to examine possible links to factors relating to the child and his/her social environment, and to evaluate preschool interventions with regard to potential improvements in language and/or executive functions. Measures were obtained by combining results from behavioral tests, language samples in the form of narratives, parent and teacher ratings and a measure of selective auditory attention as brain activity. 2. 22. Limit Theorems for Lattices and L-functions

    Author : Kristian Holm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lattices; L-functions;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis investigates distributional questions related to three types of objects: Unimodular lattices, symplectic lattices, and Hecke L-functions of imaginary quadratic number fields of class number 1. In Paper I, we follow Södergren and examine the asymptotic joint distribution of a collection of random variables arising as geometric attributes of the N = N(n) shortest non-zero lattice vectors (up to sign) in a random unimodular lattice in n-dimensional Euclidean space, as the dimension n tends to infinity: Normalizations of the lengths of these vectors, and normalizations of the angles between them. Abstract : The thesis aims at deconstructing the sustainable tourism paradigm: can tourism be "a global strategy for sustainable development", as the tourist industry claims? And will developing countries in particular profit from tourism development?To most international organizations and institutions (from the World Wide Fund for Nature to The World Bank), tourism, if carefully managed, is a positive, sustainable development tool. However, the research presented in this thesis exposes this view as unrealistically optimistic for at least three reasons: first of all, global environmental change caused by tourism has never been investigated and integrated with the discourse on sustainable tourism development. 5. 25. Integral representations of Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions

    Author : Mitja Nedic; Annemarie Luger; Alexandru Aleman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; integral representations; Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions; several complex variables; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study integral representations of Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions, that is to say holomorphic functions defined on a product of several copies of the complex upper half-plane having non-negative imaginary part. The manuscript is divided into three parts, beginning with a general introduction followed by two papers. READ MORE
