  1. 11. Phenomenology of Inert Scalar and Supersymmetric Dark Matter

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physics, Stockholm University

    Author : Erik Lundström; Stockholms universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; inert scalars; supersymmetry; indirect detection; accelerator searches; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Elementary particle physics Astroparticle physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Elementarpartikelfysik Astropartikelfysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Elementary particle physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Elementarpartikelfysik; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : While the dark matter has so far only revealed itself through the gravitational influence it exerts on its surroundings, there are good reasons to believe it is made up by WIMPs – a hypothetical class of heavy elementary particles not encompassed by the Standard Model of particle physics.The Inert Doublet Model constitutes a simple extension of the Standard Model Higgs sector. 2. 12. Measurements of Angular Correlations in Minimum Bias Events and Preparatory Studies for Charged Higgs Boson Searches at the Tevatron and the LHC

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Camille Bélanger-Champagne; Uppsala universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; D0; LHC; Tevatron; CERN; Fermilab; QCD; Monte Carlo tunes; Matrix Element method; Charged Higgs boson; Tau lepton; Trigger; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Elementary particle physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Elementarpartikelfysik; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : Studies of minimum bias events at colliders probe the behavior of QCD in the non-perturbative regime. The phenomenology of events in this regime is described by empirical models that take many parameters, which all need to be tuned to the observed data. READ MORE

  3. 13. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kateryna Medvedyeva; Umeå universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; superconductor; two dimensions; phase transition; vortex; currentvoltage characteristics; complex conductivity; scaling; critical exponents; XY-type models; dynamics; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. READ MORE
