  1. 1. Dynamic changes in T cell compartments and new approaches in evaluating DSS induced and Gai2 deficient colitis

    Author : Maria Fritsch Fredin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : colitis; Gai2- - mice; dextran sodium sulfate; ex vivo cultures; micro-Computed Tomography; IEL; thymus; Inflammatory Bowel Disease;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of the immunopathology of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The first aim was to elucidate how the thymus and the gut epithelium were affected by colitis. The second aim was to investigate new ways of assessing and monitoring colitis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Intracellular regulation of TLR signaling Basic mechanisms and importance in intestinal inflammation

    Author : Martin Berglund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TLR IL-1R signalling; Gαi2- - mice; IRAK; peritoneal macrophages; cross-tolerance; dextran sulfate sodium; IBD;

    Abstract : Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize conserved structures on/in microorganisms. The intracellular signalling pathways of TLRs are shared with IL-1R and IL-18R and their activation leads to transcription of proinflammatory cytokines and type-I interferons. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunopathogenesis of Gai2-deficient mice. A model of inflammatory bowel disease

    Author : Lena Öhman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory Bowel Disease; Mucosa; Apoptosis; Bordetella pertussis; G-protein;

    Abstract : The intestinal mucosa is the largest lymphoid organ in the body, and it simultaneously has to protect us from any pathogen that might enter the gastrointestinal tract as well as maintaining tolerance to most antigens, mainly in the form of dietary constituents and microbial products. A dysfunctional control of local intestinal immune responses may lead to development of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - the common name for ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn´s disease (CD). 4. 4. Interplay between Pathogenic and Immune Regulatory Mechanisms in G-alpha-i2 deficient colitis

    Author : Yu-Yuan Chiu Götlind; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : IBD; G-alpha-i2 colitis; Tregs; Teffs; Th17 Th1; pathogenesis immunoregulation;

    Abstract : The two major forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are gastrointestinal disorders characterized by chronic and relapsing inflammation. Mice deficient in the inhibitory G protein subunit Gαi2 spontaneously develop chronic colitis and have been used as a model for IBD, with particular similarities to UC. READ MORE

  5. 5. Zonal organization of the mouse olfactory systems

    Author : Fredrik Gussing; Staffan Bohm; Anna Berghard; Diego Restrepo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; olfactory; vomeronasal; gene expression; zone; organization; behavior; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Animals survey their environment for relevant odorous chemical compounds by means of the olfactory system. This system is in most vertebrates divided into a main and accessory olfactory system with two specialized neuroepithelia, the olfactory and the vomeronasal epithelium, respectively. READ MORE
