    Author : Qiancheng Xie; Staffan Lundström; James Yang; J. Gunnar I. Hellström; Anders G. Andersson; Nils Ruther; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial river; Sediment transport; Morphological change; Meandering; Confluence-diffluence; River training; Field measurements; Numerical simulations; Physical model tests; Machine learning; Alluvial flod; Sedimenttransport; Morfologisk förändring; Slingrande; Konfluens-diffluens; Flodträning; Fältmätningar; Numeriska simuleringar; Fysiska modellprov; Maskininlärning; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : In an alluvial lowland river, sediment is transported in the form of suspended and bed loads. The fluvial process is the macroscopic view and long-term consequence of sediment movement. READ MORE

  2. 2. The publics’ perspective on cardiovascular risk information : Implications for practice

    Author : Åsa Grauman; Mats G. Hansson; Stefan James; Jorien Veldwijk; Liesbeth Claassen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Cardiovascular diseases; Health checks; Risk communication; Cardiovascular risk communication; Optimistic bias; Family history; General health; Preferences; Public perspective; Prevention; Mental distress; Health related quality of life;

    Abstract : Lay people struggle to understand the implications of cardiovascular risk information. With new advanced testing techniques and the digitalization of personal health information, the communication of cardiovascular risk becomes a challenge. READ MORE

    Abstract : At the end of the Second Temple period, ritual purity came to play an increasing role in Jewish society. Purity laws were interpreted and expanded, and sources of impurity were generally avoided by many. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evolution of cellular complexity and other remarkable features in Gemmataceae : Complex bacterial lineages defy prokaryotic trends

    Author : Mayank Mahajan; Siv G. E. Andersson; James O. McInerney; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Bacteria of the family Gemmataceae belong the phylum Planctomycetes and are remarkable because of their complex cellular architectures, previously considered to be traits exclusive to eukaryotes. This thesis provides clues to the atypical cell envelope, the enhanced radiotolerance and the amazing cellular complexity of these bacteria. READ MORE

  5. 5. Search for a Neutral Higgs Boson with DELPHI

    Author : Tord G.M. Malmgren; James Pilcher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The mass of the neutral Higgs boson cannot be predicted by the Standard Model. Therefore, the particle is scanned for at different assumed masses. The search described here was done using data taken with the DELPHI detector during 1993-1994 (Ecm=91 GeV), 1996 (Ecm=161 and 172 GeV) and during 1997 (Ecm=183 GeV). READ MORE
