  1. 1. Prostate cancer and inflammatory genes

    Author : Fredrik Lindmark; Henrik Grönberg; William G Nelson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; inflammation; association studies; epidemiology; MSR1; MIC-1; IL1-RN; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer remains a significant health concern for men throughout the world. Accumulating epidemiologic and molecular evidence suggests that inflammation is an important component in the aetiology of prostate cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Biosynthesis and Processing of Cathepsin G, Leukocyte Elastase, and Azurocidin neutrophil granule members of a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily

    Author : Anders Lindmark; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; sorting; Activation; propeptide; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : The serine proteases cathepsin G, leukocyte elastase, proteinase 3, and the inactive protease homologue azurocidin, stored in the azurophil granules of neutrophils, belong to a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily with members in mature effector cells of bone marrow origin. Promonocytic U-937 cells were used for studying the biosynthesis of cathepsin G and leukocyte elastase by biosynthetic radiolabelling. READ MORE

  3. 3. Tailoring of MFI membranes for enhanced selectivity

    Author : Jonas Lindmark; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : Zeolite membranes can potentially be used for the separation of many types of mixtures. The membranes can be tailored by a number of methods to suit a specific separation application. In this work both traditional and new innovative methods were used to tailor the properties of membranes in order to enhance the selectivity for a given separation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evolution of Techno-Economic Systems - An Investigation of the History of Mobile Communications

    Author : Sven Lindmark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mobile data communications; application diversification; mobile telephony; standards; complementarities; diffusion; techno-economic systems; convergence; competition; technological change;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of how techno-economic systems emerge and evolve and how such processes can be analyzed. To these ends, the history of mobile communications is investigated, seen as a complex techno-economic system with two rapidly evolving and interacting subsystems - mobile telephony and mobile data communications - which are described, dissected and compared in case studies. 5. 5. Controllability of Complex Networks at Minimum Cost

    Author : Gustav Lindmark; Claudio Altafini; Anders Helmersson; Franco Garofalo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The control-theoretic notion of controllability captures the ability to guide a system toward a desired state with a suitable choice of inputs. Controllability of complex networks such as traffic networks, gene regulatory networks, power grids etc. can for instance enable efficient operation or entirely new applicative possibilities.
