  1. 1. Protein-Based Adhesives for Particleboards

    Author : Sara Khosravi; Mats K. G. Johansson; Mikael Hedenqvist; Mikael Gällstedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The main objective of this study was to elucidate the possibilities to use wheat gluten (WG) as a binder for particleboards, as well as soy protein isolate (SPI). The focus was on the effect of the adhesive formulation and the processing conditions, while the press parameters were kept constant. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Aggregation and Dynamics of Opinions in Complex Networks

    Author : Olle Abrahamsson; Erik G. Larsson; Danyo Danev; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis studies two problems defined on complex networks, of which the first explores a conceivable extension of structural balance theory and the other concerns convergence issues in opinion dynamics. In the first half of the thesis we discuss possible definitions of structural balance conditions in a network with preference orderings as node attributes. 3. 3. From Molecular Catalysts to Hybrid Electrodes: A Theoretical Guide

    Author : de Gracia Triviño Juan Angel; Mårten S. G. Ahlquist; Aleksandra Vojvodic; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Chemistry and Biology; Teoretisk kemi och biologi;

    Abstract : The industrial revolution thrived our society to great technological advancement and a shift from an agrarian to an industrial society. Besides this fact, the side effect has been the development of a society highly dependent on energy, and the main sources of energy are based on non-renewable fossil fuels. READ MORE

  4. 4. New approaches to data-driven analysis and enhanced sampling simulations of G protein-coupled receptors

    Author : Oliver Fleetwood; Lucie Delemotte; Erik Lindahl; Ulrich Zachariae; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GPCR; G protein-coupled receptors; Molecular Dynamics; MD; Enhanced Sampling; beta2 adrenergic receptor; beta2; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : Proteins are large biomolecules that carry out specific functions within living organisms. Understanding how proteins function is a massive scientific challenge with a wide area of applications. In particular, by controlling protein function we may develop therapies for many diseases. 5. 5. Potential of Organosolv Lignin Nanoparticles as a Sustainable Flotation Reagent : Towards a Low-Carbon Footprint Mining Industry

    Author : Katerina Hruzova; Ulrika Rova; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organosolv lignin particles; Nanoparticles; Flotation reagent; Copper recovery; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Abstract : The green transition is driving a steep increase in the demand for minerals, which has put the focus on more responsible and sustainable mining practices as there is a growing pressure on mining operations to minimise their environmental footprint, mitigate risks in neighbouring communities, and decrease the consumption of natural resources. In 2022, mineral froth flotation was used to recover 18 million tonnes of copper from copper ore, accounting for 80% of total copper mine output. READ MORE
