  1. 1. Mixers and Multifunctional MMICs for Millimeter-Wave Applications

    Author : Sten Gunnarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; G-band; double-balanced Gilbert mixer; sub-harmonically pumped resistive mixer; pHEMT; receiver; image reject mixer; dual-quadrature mixer; balanced resistive mixer; resistive mixer; 220 GHz; high data rate; drain mixer; 53 GHz; single-chip; V-band.; radiometer; mixer; broadband wireless communication; multifunctional; MMIC; GaAs; mHEMT; transmitter; 60 GHz;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the design and characterization of different mixer and multifunctional monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in GaAs pHEMT and mHEMT technologies. The MMICs operate at the V (50 – 75 GHz) and G (140 – 220 GHz) bands and several of them demonstrate state-of-the-art performance, level of integration, novel topologies, and/or novel functionality. 2. 2. InP DHBT Amplifiers and Circuit Packaging up to Submillimeter-Wave Frequencies

    Author : Klas Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; InP; WR05; packaging; noise figure; substrate modes; WR03.; multiple layer interconnect; double heterojunction bipolar transistor DHBT ; G-band; wideband; H-band; waveguide transition; distributed amplifier DA ; millimeter-wave; amplifier; low-noise amplifier LNA ; membrane technology; waveguide module; submillimeter-wave;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the design and characterization of amplifiers operating up tosubmillimeter-wave frequencies and packaging of such circuits into waveguidemodules. The circuits use an advanced indium phosphide (InP) double heterojunctionbipolar transistor (DHBT) process with a multilayer back-end. READ MORE

  3. 3. Physical properties and structural stability of carbon nanotubes under extreme conditions

    Author : Maxime Noël; David Dunstan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Experimentell fysik; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted an immense attention of the research community since reporting on this system by S. Ijima in 1991. A "single-walled" CNT (SWCNT) can be considered as a rolled-up single-layer graphene - a one atom-thick layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. READ MORE

  4. 4. Conformal chemical vapor deposition of boron carbide thin films

    Author : Arun Haridas Choolakkal; Jens Birch; Henrik Pedersen; Hans Högberg; Tobias Törndahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The sustainability goals of the modern world and the fascinating properties of sub-micron scale materials promote development of materials in thin film form. Thin films are materials that have thicknesses ranging from sub-nanometer to several micrometers, synthesized by various deposition techniques. READ MORE

  5. 5. Memory Effects on Iron Oxide Filled Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Carlos Cava; Clas Persson; Lucimara Roman; Krister Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Memory devices; Carbon Nanotubes; energy; nanotechnology; Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : In this Licentiate Thesis, the properties and effects of iron and iron oxide filled carbon nanotube (Fe-CNT) memories are investigated using experimental characterization and quantum physical theoretical models. Memory devices based on the simple assembly of Fe-CNTs between two metallic contacts are presented as a possible application involving the resistive switching phenomena of this material. READ MORE
