  2. 22. Cognitive dysfunction : Assessed by Questionnaires in a Population Sample and in Patients with Affective or Anxiety Disorders Before, During and After Treatment

    Author : Torbjörn Ohrt; Carlo Perris; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to study the Swedish versions of the Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS) and the Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire (ATQ) regarding their psychometric properties and to investigate their place in the cognitive theory of psychopathology. For these purposes samples were collected of the general population and of different psychopathological groups in different stages of illness and the results were compared with clinical diagnoses according to the DSM-III-R and IV and selfand observer ratings of depression and anxiety. 3. 23. Specific genetic modifications in the CNS - Cell specific expression and gene specific regulation

    Author : Erika Elgstrand; CNS Genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson’s disease Gene therapy Cell specific GAD67 Rat Striatum Substantia nigra pars reticulata;

    Abstract : Gene therapy is a promising therapeutic tool for many diseases of the CNS. Lentiviral vectors are particularly attractive since this vector type can transduce both dividing and non-dividing cells, have a relatively large cloning capacity, can sustain long-term transgene expression and have low immunogenicity. 4. 24. Zinc-enriched neurons in the spinal cord, cerebellum and peripheral sympathetic system

    Author : Zhan-You Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : autometallography; axonal transport; confocal laser scanning microscopy; immuno-electron microscopy; immunofluorescence; inhibitory neurons; sympathetic neurons; synaptic vesicles; zinc ions; zinc transporter;

    Abstract : Zinc ions are abundant in the nervous system and are involved in many biological functions. Most zinc is tightly bound to macromolecules, whereas a small fraction of zinc exists in synaptic vesicles of the zinc-enriched (ZEN) neurons, and can be visualized using various histochemical techniques, including autometallography (AMG). 5. 25. Effects of antipsychotics on GABA neurons in the basal ganglia of the rat

    Author : Jiang Yu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; antipsychotics; γ-aminobutyric acid; glutamic acid decarboxylase; basal ganglia; entopeduncular nucleus; vacuous chewing movements; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Psychiatry; psykiatri;

    Abstract : Antipsychotics are used in the treatment of psychosis and, based on their propensities to induce extrapyramidal side effects (EPS), are divided into typical (haloperidol) and atypical (clozapine) subtypes. The incidence of EPS, arises from an imbalance in the neurotransmission between two majorGABAergic pathways of the basal ganglia that connect the striatum directly to the entopeduncular nucleus (EP) and the substantia nigra reticulata or indirectly via the globus pallidus and the subthalamic nucleus.
