  1. 16. Development and Application of Proximity Assays for Proteome Analysis in Medicine

    Author : Felipe Marques Souza de Oliveira; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Ulf Landegren; Mats Gullberg; Janne Lehtiö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solid-phase proximity ligation assay; post-translational modifications; glycosylation; phosphorylation; Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; immunoassay and rolling circle amplification; Proximity Extension Assay; inflammation protein biomarkers; autoantibodies; autoimmune disease;

    Abstract : Along with proteins, a myriad of different molecular biomarkers, such as post-translational modifications and autoantibodies, could be used in an attempt to improve disease detection and progression. In this thesis, I build on several iterations of the proximity ligation assay to develop and apply new adaptable methods to facilitate detection of proteins, autoantibodies and post-translational modifications. 2. 17. Identification of manifest diabetes and complication development in gestational diabetes mellitus. The pursuit for biomarkers

    Author : Jonatan Dereke; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : Gestational diabetes mellitus; Pregnancy; Hyperglycaemia; Biomarkers; Inflammation; Autoantibodies; Prediction;

    Abstract : Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a type of diabetes which is first recognised during pregnancy. In the county of Skåne in Southern Sweden, over 2% of all pregnancies are complicated by GDM, a number that is generally several times higher worldwide. READ MORE

  3. 18. Genetics of Diabetes Subtypes. Characterization of novel cluster-based diabetes subtypes

    Author : Dina Mansour Aly; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Precision medicine; Diabetes Subclassification; genome-wide association studies; GWAS; genetic risk scores; GRS; chronic kidney disease; CKD; diabetic kidney disease; DKD; Estimated glomerular filtration rate; eGFR; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been reproducibly clustered into five subtypes based on six-clinical variables; age at diabetes onset, body mass index (BMI), Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin secretion and resistance estimated as HOMA2B and HOMA2IR derived from fasting glucose and Cpeptide. These subtypes have different disease progression and risk of complications. READ MORE

  4. 19. Early stress, cortisol in hair and health among children in different psychosocial environments

    Author : Jerker Karlén; Tomas Faresjö; Johnny Ludvigsson; Töres Theorell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Psychosocial circumstances during early life are increasingly recognized as crucial, not only for the growing individual but also for health throughout life. A possible mechanism could be physiologic dysregulation due to stress. READ MORE

  5. 20. Aspects of autoantibody epitopes in type 1 diabetes

    Author : Hanna Skärstrand; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Minor autoantigens Neuropeptide Y.; Affinity; ZnT8 autoantibodies; Autoimmune type 1 diabetes;

    Abstract : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is strongly associated with autoantibodies against insulin (IAA), glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GADA), insulinoma-associated protein 2 (IA-2A) and the most recently identified zinc T8 transporter (ZnT8A). Together or alone, they are important both to predict T1D and to classify diabetes at the time of clinical onset. READ MORE
