  1. 41. Unravelling Consistent Spin-2 Interactions

    Author : Mikael von Strauss; Sayed Fawad Hassan; Mikhail Volkov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Modified Gravity; Massive Spin-2; Spin-2 Interactions; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : Recently, a unique formulation of a classically consistent theory of massive spin-2 fields has emerged. In this thesis I address a few of the primary questions that arise once such a theory is available. READ MORE

  2. 42. New perspectives in mesospheric wave dynamics and oxygen photochemistry

    Author : Anqi Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen airglow; mesospheric ozone.; gravity wave; Satellite limb observation;

    Abstract : The mesosphere is the region of the atmosphere between 50km to 100km, where both dynamical and photochemical aspects play important roles for the thermal balance. This thesis focuses on the following three areas for mesospheric studies: wave dynamics, oxygen photochemistry and retrieval using the optimal estimation method. READ MORE

  3. 43. Empirical Sudies in Trade, Growth and Integration

    Author : Rasha M Tostensson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Agglomeration; Urban Giants; Sensitivity Analysis; Income Distribution; Comparative Costs; Gravity Equation; Trade Volume; trade in the Middle East and North Africa; Total factor Productivity; Knowledge Transfer; Long-Run Growth; European Integration; Trade barriers.; International commerce; Internationell ekonomi;

    Abstract : The present study is composed of a series of six independent yet related articles treating various aspects of international trade and economic growth. In Chapter two the effects of European Integration (EI) on long-run economic growth is studied. Contrary to earlier empirical results long-run effects of EI are identified. READ MORE

  4. 44. Bioprocess development for biochemical conversion of lignocellulose

    Author : Ruifei Wang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lignocellulose; strain engineering; stress tolerance; kinetic modelling; high gravity; scale-up; biofuels; SSCF; process development; Saccharomyces cerevisiae;

    Abstract : Due to its low environmental impact and high maturity of the fuel ethanol market, lignocellulosic ethanol is a promising option for reducing the carbon footprint in the transport sector. The characteristics of lignocellulosic feedstocks, such as varied sugar composition, low sugar density, low solubility, recalcitrance to enzymatic degradation, and inhibitors formed during thermochemical pretreatment, have so far limited the production process, and costs for conversion of lignocellulosic materials to ethanol are still high. 5. 45. Near surface atmospheric flow over high latitude glaciers

    Author : Oskar Parmhed; Erland Källén; Branko Grisogono; Haraldur Ólafsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stable boundary layer; Ekman layer; Katabatic flow; gravity wave; low-level jets; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis various descriptions of the near surface atmospheric flow over a high latitude glacier is used in an effort to increase our understanding of the basic flow dynamics there. Through their contribution to sea-level change, mountain glaciers play a significant role in Earth’s climate system. READ MORE
