1. Superantigens in group A streptococcus : gene diversity and humoral immune response
Abstract : Group A streptococcus (GAS) is a strictly human pathogen that causes infections ranging from asymptomatic carriage to the highly lethal streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS). GAS are classified according to the sequence of the variable 5’ end of the emm-gene that encodes the surface associated M-protein. READ MORE

2. Studies on group A streptococcal pharyngotonsillitis : diagnostic and therapeutic aspects
Abstract : .... READ MORE

3. Temperature-dependent structure and function of group A streptococcal M proteins
Abstract : Temperature-dependent structure and function of group A streptococcal M proteins. This thesis describes the temperature-dependent structure of the members in the group A streptococcal M protein family. M proteins are cell-surface proteins that are important for the bacterial virulence and bind to a diverse set of human plasma proteins. READ MORE

4. Exploring Monoclonal Antibody Action Against the Group A Streptococcal M Protein
Abstract : Group A Streptococcus (GAS) is a significant human pathogen that has developed multipleimmune evasion mechanisms to counter the host immune response. One of these mechanisms involvesthe production of the M protein, which, amongst other things, acts as an anti-phagocytic factor and canbind host proteins. READ MORE

5. Invasive group A streptococcal infection : host and pathogen interactions
Abstract : Invasive group A streptococcal (GAS) infections were studied in 229 patients with a clinical diagnosis of erysipelas and 151 patients with GAS bacteremia, respectively. Beta-hemolytic streptococci were identified in about a third of the erysipelas patients, mostly group A, whereas group G streptococci were identified in about half as many episodes. READ MORE
