6. Yacon as a food ingredient in meat products : A comparison between Soluble and Insoluble Fraction of Yacon
Abstract : The potential of yacon roots as a food ingredient was evaluated to determine its application in the food industry, especially in the meat industry. The understanding of yacon and its interactions with the sarcoplasmic andmyofibrillar proteins of meat was the key part of this study. READ MORE

7. Smokeless Tobacco (Snus) and Cardiovascular Disease : Associations with Heart Failure and Prognosis after Myocardial Infarction
Abstract : Previous investigations of snus use (oral moist snuff, a Swedish form of smokeless tobacco) and cardiovascular disease have generally focused on atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, likely because smoking is such a well-established risk factor for atherosclerotic disease. Smokeless administration of tobacco circumvents most of the atherogenic effects of the combusted products from smoked tobacco, but it is possible that the potent autonomic and hemodynamic effects of snus and nicotine per se are detrimental for cardiovascular tissues. 8. Alpha-Synuclein Oligomers : Cellular Mechanisms and Aspects of Antibody Treatment
Abstract : In Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), aggregated α-synuclein deposit inside cells within the brain. Smaller soluble α-synuclein aggregates, oligomers, are present both intra- and extracellularly. READ MORE

9. Flexural Buckling of High-Strength Steel Columns
Abstract : The European standards dealing with design rules and recommendations for steel structures have been under revision in the past years due to the increased use of high-strength steels. High-strength steels popularity increased at a steady pace in the last decades since they allow for more light-weighted solutions than conventional steels. READ MORE

10. FRP shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams
Abstract : The shear failure mechanisms of flexural reinforced concrete (RC) members is highly complex; its precise details cannot be explained with simple analytical relationships, and are the topic of considerable scientific debate. The studies described and examined the three most used shear theories in the world – the fixed angle truss model (45°TM), the variable angle truss model (VAT), and modified compression field theory (MCFT).
