  1. 1. Hydrogen in ultrathin vanadium layers

    Author : Gabriella Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The influence of elastic boundary conditions on the thermodynamics of hydrogen in vanadium were investigated using resistometry, x-ray diffraction and nuclear reaction analysis. To provide varying lattice strain states Mo/V (110) and Fe/V (001) superlattices with thickness L of individual layers in the range 3-16 monolayers (ML) were used. READ MORE

    Author : Martina Ahlberg; Gabriella Andersson; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Steve Bramwell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phase transitions; critical behavior; 2D XY model; MOKE; magnetic thin films and superlattices; amorphous multilayers; magnetic proximity effects; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The continuous phase transition in thin magnetic films and superlattices has been studied using the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) and polarized neutron scattering (PNR).  It has been shown that the critical behavior of amorphous thin films belonging to the 2D XY universality class can be described within the same theory as crystalline sample. 4. 4. A Structural Viewpoint of Magnetism in Fe and Co Based Superlattices

    Author : Matts Björck; Gabriella Andersson; Adrian Rennie; Thomas Hase; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Magnetism; Multilayer; Superlattice; X-ray magnetic circular dichroism; X-ray diffraction; X-ray reflectivity; Neutron diffraction; Structural refinement; Interfaces; Fysik;

    Abstract : In order to understand the properties of thin film devices, knowledge of the material's structure is essential. The work presented here combines magnetic and structural characterization of the systems studied to gain a deeper physical understanding. READ MORE

  5. 5. Growth and Magnetic Properties of Fe- and FeNi-based Thin Films and Multilayers

    Author : Anna Maria Blixt; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Gabriella Andersson; Panagiotis Poulopoulos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; Sputter growth; Permalloy; Multilayer; Superlattice; Magnetism; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the growth and magnetic properties of thin films and multilayers. The samples were grown by magnetron sputtering, and characterized structurally mainly by x-ray diffraction and reflectivity. READ MORE
