  1. 1. Dioxin emissions from small-scale combustion of bio-fuel and household waste

    Author : Björn Hedman; Stellan Marklund; Calle Nilsson; Brian Gullett; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Source-sorted waste; Household waste; Textile; Biofuel; Firewood; Pellets; Combustion; Wood boiler; Pellet boiler; Backyard burning; Garden waste; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emission factor; Källsorterat avfall; Hushållsavfall; Textil; Biobränsle; Ved; Pellets; Förbränning; Vedpanna; Pelletpanna; Trädgårdsavfall; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emissionsfaktor; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling behandlar rökgasutsläpp av persistenta organiska föroreningar, framförallt dioxiner, vid förbränning av fasta biobränslen och torrt hushållsavfall i relativt små anläggningar (5-600 kW) utan avancerad rökgasreningsteknik.Samförbränning av avfall och biobränsle i effektiva mindre biobränslepannor testades som en alternativ strategi till den vanligen förekommande storskaliga hanteringen och förbränningen fast hushållsavfall. 2. 2. Greenhouse gas emissions from food and garden waste composting : effects of Management and Process Conditions

    Author : Evgheni Ermolaev; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Composting is a robust waste treatment technology. Use of finished compost enables plant nutrient recycling, carbon sequestration, soil structure improvement and mineral fertiliser replacement. However, composting also emits greenhouse gases (GHG) such as methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O) with high global warming potential (GWP). READ MORE

  3. 3. Chemical and morphological characterisation of long-term properties of environmentally degradable polymers

    Author : Carina Eldsäter; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The environmental degradation of an aliphatic polyester,poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and a polyesteramide,poly(butylene adipate-co-amino caproate) (PEA) was studied to answer questionsregarding their life-time in natural environments,e.g.municipal solid waste compost.
