  1. 11. Microstructure in SOFC: electrochemical simulations and experiments

    Author : Xiaoqiang Zhang; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid oxide fuel cell; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; 3D reconstruction; Tortuosity; Electrochemical kinetics; Multiphysics; Thermal stress;

    Abstract : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are highly efficient and environmentally friendly power sources that convert chemical energy directly into electricity and heat, without the need for combustion. Despite their many benefits, the performance and durability of SOFCs heavily depend on the quality of their porous anode and cathode components. READ MORE

  2. 12. Modelling and Applications of the Hollow Cathode Plasma

    Author : Daniel Söderström; Hana Baránková; Ladislav Bárdos; Zoltán Donkó; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; hollow cathode; hybrid plasma; vibrational temperature; atmospheric pressure; fluid modelling; radio frequency; pulsed power; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental and modelling research on atmospheric pressure hollow cathodes and hollow electrodes. Experiments with the hybrid hollow electrode activated discharge (H-HEAD), which is a combination of a hollow cathode and a microwave plasma source, is presented. READ MORE

  3. 13. Modelling and Experimental Investigation of the Dynamics in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells

    Author : Katarina Wiezell; Göran Lindbergh; Lars Pettersson; Anders Dahlkild; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer electrolyte fuel cell; modelling; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; water transport; membrane; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : In polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) chemical energy, in for example hydrogen, is converted by an electrochemical process into electrical energy. The PEFC has a working temperature generally below 100 °C. Under these conditions water management and transport of oxygen to the cathode are the parameters limiting the performance of the PEFC. 4. 14. Limiting processes in anion-exchange membrane fuel cells

    Author : Henrik Grimler; Göran Lindbergh; Rakel Wreland Lindström; Carina Lagergren; Marc Secanell; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anion-exchange membrane fuel cell; hydrogen oxidation reaction; oxygen reduction reaction; water transport; physics-based modelling; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Fuel cells allow for converting chemical energy stored in hydrogen into electrical energy, with only heat and water as by-products. In a sustainable energy society, hydrogen may play an important role due to its ability to act both as an energy carrier and as a valuable chemical in the process industry. READ MORE

  5. 15. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of the Formation of Ionized Gases in Spark Ignition Engines

    Author : Raymond Reinmann; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermal Ionization; Calorimetry; Interferometry; Spark Ignition Engine; Current and Voltage Measurements; Engine Control.; fluid dynamics; Gases; plasmas; Gaser; plasma; fluiddynamik; Breakdown; Arc; Glow; Flame Ionization; Chemi-Ionization; Spark; Townsend; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Reinmann;

    Abstract : The processes that govern the formation, existence and consumption of ions in gases have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. The aim of the work is targeted at increasing the understanding of these phenomena in the working gases inside an engine. READ MORE
