  1. 1. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete

    Author : Magnus Döse; Johan Silfwerbrand; Franz Josef Maringer; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Radon gas; emissions; health; concrete; building materials; ionizing radiation; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Abstract : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. READ MORE

  2. 2. An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Decentralized Gas Fired Liquid Heating

    Author : Rolf Christensen; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; liquid heating.; efficiency; environmental impact; emissions; corrugated tube; heat transfer augmentation; heat transfer enhancement; energy conservation; decentralized heating; Natural gas; steam replacement; gas firing; Carbochemistry; petrochemistry; fuels and explosives technology; Petrokemi; bränslen; sprängämnen;

    Abstract : The effects on the energy situation in industry when gas fired liquid heaters replace steam have been determined by energy surveys performed in a brewery and a slaughterhouse, measurements of the performance and emissions from liquid heaters installed in these industries, and theoretical analyses of the potential energy saving. The theoretical study in the first part of the project provides information that allows assessment of the effects on the energy situation, of part or complete conversion to decentralized heating, under the conditions prevailing in the industries concerned. 4. 4. Dispersion modelling of volcanic emissions

    Author : Adam Dingwell; Rutgersson Anna; David Simpson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dispersion modelling; atmospheric; volcano; gas emissions; volcanic ash; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Spridningsmodellering; atmosfär; vulkan; gasutsläpp; vulkanaska; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : Gases and particles released by volcanoes pose a serious hazard to humans and society. Emissions can be transported over long distances before being reduced to harmless concentrations. Knowing which areas are, or will be, exposed to volcanic emissions is an important part inreducing the impact on human health and society. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biofiltration of odorous gas emissions

    Author : Anneli Andersson-Chan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Biofiltration has shown its potential as an interesting treatment alternative for contaminated gas streams. Unlike conventional technologies, such as adsorption, scrubbers, and incineration, biofiltration offers effective pollution control at relatively low capital and operating costs, and without the generation of secondary pollution that may require subsequent treatment.
