  1. 1. Power to gas Bridging renewable electricity to the transport sector

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Farzad Mohseni; KTH.; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transport; renewable electricity; synthetic fuels; energy; power to gas;

    Abstract : Globally, transport accounts for a significant part of the total energy utilization and is heavily dominated by fossil fuels. The main challenge is how the greenhouse gas emissions in road transport can be addressed. Moreover, the use of fossil fuels in road transport makes most countries or regions dependent on those with oil and/or gas assets. READ MORE

  2. 2. Generation of synthesis gas for fuels and chemicals production

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Per Tunå; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Synthetic fuels and chemicals; gasification; gas conditioning; simulation; tar-cracking;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Dagens samhälle är mycket beroende av fordonsbränslen och kemikalier som producerats av råolja. Framtidens tillgång på råolja är oviss, det enda som är säkert är att det är en ändlig resurs. Användningen av olja bidrar dessutom till koldioxidutsläpp till atmosfären. READ MORE

  3. 3. Life Cycle Assessment of Present and Future Marine Fuels

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Selma Bengtsson; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCA; marine fuels; environmental impact; LNG; biofuels; heavy fuel oil; Life Cycle Assessment; marine gas oil; liquefied natural gas;

    Abstract : Interest in new fuels for marine propulsion is growing, mainly as a result of stricter environmental regulations but also due to increased attention to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and the uncertainty of future oil supply. Several different fuels and exhaust abatement technologies are proposed for marine transportation, all of which have different advantages and disadvantages in relation to the environment and human health. 4. 4. An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Decentralized Gas Fired Liquid Heating

    University dissertation from Department of Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Rolf Christensen; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; liquid heating.; efficiency; environmental impact; emissions; corrugated tube; heat transfer augmentation; heat transfer enhancement; energy conservation; decentralized heating; Natural gas; steam replacement; gas firing; Carbochemistry; petrochemistry; fuels and explosives technology; Petrokemi; bränslen; sprängämnen;

    Abstract : The effects on the energy situation in industry when gas fired liquid heaters replace steam have been determined by energy surveys performed in a brewery and a slaughterhouse, measurements of the performance and emissions from liquid heaters installed in these industries, and theoretical analyses of the potential energy saving. The theoretical study in the first part of the project provides information that allows assessment of the effects on the energy situation, of part or complete conversion to decentralized heating, under the conditions prevailing in the industries concerned. 5. 5. A Gap in the Grid Attempts to introduce natural gas in Sweden 1967-1991

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Anna Åberg; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; natural gas; energy policy; infrastructure planning; history of technology; Sweden; Northern Europe; risk; project planning; Denmark; Norway; Soviet Union; Germany; energy systems; energy history; fossil fuels;

    Abstract : This thesis follows the process of introducing natural gas in Sweden and the construction of a Northern European gas grid from 1967 to 1991. Natural gas is a relatively unnoticed fuel in Sweden today, but this relative anonymity stands in contrast to an extensive historical activity that has taken place behind the scenes of Swedish energy policy.
