  1. 1. Real-time breath gas analysis of carbon monoxide : laser-based detection and pulmonary gas exchange modeling

    Author : Ramin Ghorbani; Florian M. Schmidt; Anders Blomberg; Christoffer Boman; Staffan Schedin; Jonathan Beauchamp; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon monoxide CO ; pulmonary gas exchange; computational modeling; real-time breath gas analysis; single-exhalation profile; laser absorption spectroscopy; nonlinear least-squares fitting; breath sampling; baseline level; diurnal variation; healthy population; exposure study; fysik; Physics; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Abstract : Breath gas analysis is a promising approach for non-invasive medical diagnostics and physiological monitoring. Real-time, breath-cycle resolved biomarker detection facilitates data interpretation and has the potential to improve the diagnostic value of breath tests as exhalation profiles carry spatiotemporal information about biomarker origin and gas exchange in the respiratory tract. 2. 2. Characterization of Chimney Flue Gas Flows : Flow Rate Measurements with Averaging Pitot Probes

    Author : Janne Paavilainen; Chris Bales; Jan-Olof Dalenbäck; Lennart Gustavsson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flue gas; measurement; characterization; averaging Pitot tube; SolNET;

    Abstract : Performance testing methods of boilers in transient operating conditions (start, stop and combustion power modulation sequences) need the combustion rate quantified to allow for the emissions to be quantified. One way of quantifying the combustion rate of a boiler during transient operating conditions is by measuring the flue gas flow rate. READ MORE

  4. 4. New Efficient Detector for Radiation Therapy Imaging using Gas Electron Multipliers

    Author : Janina Östling; Mats Danielsson; Anders Brahme; Fabio Sauli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Portal imaging; Gas Electron Multiplier; Gas detector; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Currently film is being replaced by electronic detectors for portal imaging in radiation therapy. This development offers obvious advantages such as on-line quality assurance and digital images that can easily be accessed, processed and communicated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thin films for indoor air monitoring : Measurements of Volatile Organic Compounds

    Author : Umut Cindemir; Niklasson Gunnar; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Lars Österlund; Magnus Willander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gas sensor; thin film; adcanced gas depostion; sputter deposition; nickel oxide; gold nanoparticles; indium tin oxide; acetaldehyde; formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the indoor air have adverse effects on the dwellers residing in a building or a vehicle. One of these effects is called sick building syndrome (SBS). READ MORE
